One Shot Pixel Map effect with background colour and single-button trigger

Postby kkoni » 25 Aug 2026, 00:44

Hi everyone,

I’m trying to build a specific effect in Avolites Titan, and I’d appreciate some help finding the best way to program it.

The basic idea is:

I have a group of fixtures, for example LED Wash.
I have a background colour, which I want to select dynamically from a Colour Palette.
On top of this background, I want a fixed effect colour, for example white, programmed into a Pixel Map effect.
When triggered, the effect should run across the fixtures, for example from left to right.
The effect should be a One Shot.
I want to trigger it from a single executor button.
If I press the button again while the effect is already running, a new One Shot should start again from the left, while the previous one is allowed to continue. I have already managed to get this multiple-trigger behaviour working.

Avolites Support suggested using the built-in Demo Show:

Page 3 → “Elevate” → Playback ID 35 → “Plucks”

They also suggested copying the cues so that each press fires a new One Shot Pixel Map effect. This part works and solves the multiple-trigger requirement.

They also explained that the background colour can be set by selecting the battens and changing their colour using Colour Palettes, and that the Pixel Map effect colour can be controlled using Layer Master 1 with Layer 1 set to “Use Master”.

However, I have run into another problem.

If I activate the Plucks cuelist, or make the effect into a playback/executor, the playback continuously outputs the background colour while it is active.

This is not what I want.

What I would like is for the executor to behave purely as a trigger:

The background colour is controlled separately by me.
The background can be any colour selected from a Palette.
The One Shot effect itself has a fixed colour, for example white.
Activating the executor should not continuously output or recall the background colour.
The executor should only trigger the One Shot Pixel Map effect when I press the button.
If the Intensity of the fixtures is down, pressing the button should still produce the white One Shot effect.
Once the One Shot has finished, there should be no continuous output from the effect playback.
Pressing the button again should trigger another One Shot from the beginning.

So essentially, I am looking for something like an overlay/triggered Pixel Map effect that does not take ownership of the existing background colour or continuously output a cue state.

Has anyone achieved something like this in Titan?

Is there a way to make the Pixel Map/One Shot effect trigger-only, so that the executor does not continuously control the fixture colour while it is active?

I am using Titan v16+.

Any advice on the correct programming approach would be greatly appreciated!
