Greetings.
Am thorougly enjoying the new features and enhanced gui of the 6.1, after having had the problems mentioned in another thread with the 6.0.
Even so i have encountered a few issues related to shapes.
1. When programming a shape, the encoder wheels gets unresponsive when adjusting size and speed of said shape. I have to turn very much and very fast to make only very small adjustments, and the lcd "blinks" in the control area, sometimes even moves the whole screen to the right and back.
Have tried updating USB panels, but it says all panels are up to date.
2. It seems as if the resolution of the shapes has been reduced, meaning that when i make a movement shape, and adjust it at say 5 pct, it staggers and lags a bit. Have also seen this when putting the size/speed ón fader.
It didn't do this in 5.0, same fixtures (Sharpies)new and fresh show.
We have both the Expert (Black 00750) and Mobile and have not seen the same on Mobile.
Is this hardware related?
Sincerely
Beast DK

I haven't seen any issues with shape resolution or lagging on 6.1.
The software across all platforms is the same so there cannot be any difference other than processing speed (in the case of TM).
If both shows are patched as new on each console then it 'could' be personality differences although I'm not convinced.
When testing ensure that either both libraries are the same (latest) if patching from new or alternatively that the same showfile is used.
Two things I would focus on are wheel sensitivity in user settings and possible encoder faults (use Usb Console to check performance).
Note that the screen shift is probably irrelevant. I have seen this since day 1 on the Expert and on multiple consoles. I probably see it at least once a session.

Thanks Nic.
Will try to make an a-b comparison between the two controls and see if there's any difference.
Will also try to meddle a bit with the encoder settings and check them in USB console.
We have however just been hit by a small blizzard, so wont be in front of the consoles the next couple of days, but will report back.

Icke, will try your trick and see if this helps, thanks

Greetings and a Happy New Year to all
Sorry i haven´t had the time to report back, but Christmas shows and so on...
The tips about using the shift and Avo button works just fine so the first issue i had is fixed/mended
However; the second issue with the lags and irregularitys on our Expert persists:
Same show, including pixelmapper effects( first time using this, as we have just got some hardware for it), same personality library(newest) on both consoles, and it works like a charm on the Mobile, with an HP 23" All in one pc. No problems what so ever.
The Expert: Lags in movements and mapping effects, delays when pressing buttons and so on.
Tried different solutions: Different harddiscs, the old original spinner and an Intel330 60 GB SSD harddisk, fresh installations on both, to no avail.
Checked the ressources when running the same two cues/chases: one movement shape on fixtures and a pixelmapping chase with animations on both consoles:
Mobile: CPU 25%, Internal Ram 12%, with both Vis and Pixel preview on.
Expert: CPU 95-100%, Internal Ram 86-90% without vis and preview.
Could this be the problem? And any suggestions of what to do?
Sincerely
Beast DK

Yeah, we could do that, however i would imagine that this is not a thing that Avo would recommend or support for that matter.
Have been in contact with our local supplier, and they said that there would probably be some future hardware upgrades available from Avo, but i was also curious if nobody else have encountered these issues. I know that our Expert is of some age, but....
Perhabs hoping that its just our console/programming that have a problem which is fixable. Can use our Mobile, but clearly prefer the massive amount of playback/busking possibilities of the Expert

Well, have tried putting 2GB RAM in after consulting our supplier. It have made some improvement, but didnt solve the problem. Still experiencing lags in movements and mapping effects. Have been offered a Sapphire for trial, and a good deal on it, should we wish to, but would ofcourse rather have our Expert running smoothly again. Anybody else heard of upgrades?

Perhaps Avo can release a list of upgrades we can do to our "old" Experts?
I assume replacing the hard drive with a solid state drive and upgrading the RAM are some easy and relative cheap upgrades that can seriously improve the speed of the console.
Although I'd rather like a Saphire Touch, who convinces my boss?

Hi Beast,
You are not alone.
Last week I had a show. (24 moving heads and a mediaserver. Let's be honest, this amount of fixtures shouldn't be a problem...)
In the beginning everything works fine, but later on the evening I had serious lags, huge delays on cue list,...
CITP function was asking a lot of power from the console, movements and chases just freezed.
In the past I have used a lot of LED fixtures. Here again some serious lags when using pixelmapper.
I like the avolites pearl expert , but these problems are so annoying!
If you have found a sollution for these problems; please let me know...
Sincerely
Jaco

Hi Jaco.
Sorry to hear about your problems, but it's nice to know that we're not alone. Hopefully these issues will be adressed soon, as an upgrade kit or the likes.
As stated earlier, we've tried installing SSD and increased the RAMS to 2 GB, which helped, but didn't solve. Have just had a Sapphire Touch out on a gig for a testrun, and this was NICE. Took a bit of adjusting with the workflow when used to Expert, busking wise, but really a nice piece of equipment
.
Finances, finances.... Btw, same show that our Expert struggled with ran without problems whatsoever. We've ofcourse not given up on our Expert, so awaiting a fix
