Titan Mobile DMX IN

Postby cortipi » 30 Oct 2012, 10:50

Hi all, I need to know if is it possible to use an external console to change DMX value of dimmer or dimmer group, with Titan Mobile, or I can only trigger a fader/button (on-off) without change DMX value.
From user manual i think that I can only change state not DMX value.

Thanks a lot

You can change DMX values of fixtures and group of fixtures . You do this through recording playbacks with the required DMX levels and then assigning these to MIDI triggers.

I don't have a Titan Mobile right now and I'm planning to buy one.
I want to use DMX IN (not MIDI) from a 24 fader DMX console to control 24 dimmer channel.
With other software I can connect DMX out of manual console to Dmx IN, then map single DMX channel/fader and control the fixture parameter of that channel (in case of dimmer channel the intensity).

Hello,

The Titan Mobile has no DMX in so it is impossible to use DMX triggers unless you do the above suggestion for MIDI triggers.

From Titan Mobile operator's manual it is possible to configura a DMX OUT as DMX IN .
From page 157:
"DMX inputs are connected to one of the DMX output connectors using
a DMX male to male gender changer cable. (This is a simple plug to
plug cable with all pins wired straight through, i.e. 1-1, 2-2 and 3-
3)".

My ask is if I can control dimmer intensity from an external console

I think Olie meant to say DMX trigger, not MIDI.

If you need to make the values enter the programmer then it might be possible to assign the fixture handle itself, as if it were on an Expert preset handle. Maybe by actually putting the dimmers there using compatibility view? Or maybe not. Sorry I can't be more certain but this is not something I can easily test at the moment.

But if you just want individual level control of 24 dimmers then, as Olie said, the solution should be to just record 24 playbacks each with a single dimmer at full and assign each of the relevant external controls to one of these playbacks.

I normaly use a DMX merge unit and arranging the first 24 channels to be controlled by the inhouse lighting desk and in house dimmers.
Which is all the DMX in would do.
