Programming Advice

Postby CSmithDesign » 16 Oct 2012, 22:37

Hello, I've been running into a situation many times and I'd like to see if you've got a good idea on how to execute the programming quickly:

Suppose I have 40 MAC 301s in a line and I want to create a "push out" cue. Meaning Fixtures 19 and 20 come to full completely synchronized, then 18 and 21, then 17 and 22, etc. all the way out to the end, completing the cue in about .5 seconds.

Given the size of the rig, it's obviously time consuming to create a cue list with every step automatically following the last, and I do not want to run an effect or fixture overlap through a fixture selection because then the fixtures aren't coming up or down at the same time together like I want.

Do you have any suggestions on this? On the MA, I'd be using the MATricks for this, but that's obviously proprietary to MA. Do you have any workarounds that come to mind?

Thanks

I don't see the problem with using fixture overlap. Set the fixture order for the cue so that step 1 is 17 & 19, step 2 is 18 and 21 etc.

So you can put multiple fixtures into fixture order number 1, and then multiple fixtures into fixture order number 2, etc?

Hadn't tried that, thanks.

Great, thanks.

Quick follow up: Running an effect through that type of fixture selection will achieve the same type of result, correct? It will read multiple fixtures as fixture order number 1, etc?

Correct. Note that shape fixture order is separate to cue fixture order. You set this from within Shape Gen.
