titan v6

Postby DaveH » 31 Jul 2012, 00:47

I'm excited for the release of v6, but before I jump into it I have a few questions.

Will it be backward compatible with any v5 shows I have already created?

Has the remote function been fixed yet?

Thanks guys.

You can load shows from earlier versions.

Remote is not fixed in v6, sorry. Full release notes here.

And as for backward compatibility, just a few experiences:

- v6 loads v5 shows - but not vice versa
- however, there are some features in v6 shows which are simply not present in v5 shows, e.g. the dmx output settings, which are simple not stored in v5 shows
- only assuming: there are some minor changes regarding the character set (and subsequently something occurs like 'removing unwanted characters' when loading a v5 show). I'd bet this relates to palette naming and such

Probably Nick can give more insights.

I'm not aware of anything relating to character sets.

See Known Issues (transforms to 'not yet implemented' on website for some reason).

Update:

Important note regarding loading shows from earlier versions:

In some circumstances the loading progress screen can suddenly disappear part-way through the 'loading fixtures' progress bar. When this happens the menu also returns to root. This makes it look as if the show has not loaded.

It is important that you ignore this and be patient. Eventually the show should load correctly but be prepared for this to take longer than usual as it has to be converted in the background first. As a guide I am testing with two shows of different ages. One is 700KB and took 30sec, the other is 1.2MB and took 1min.
