No fixture overlap Titan 5.0

Postby DaveH » 18 Mar 2012, 03:52

I have a pearl expert running Titan software. The most recent version. My problem is that I seem to have lost the ability to set fixture ovlap in a chase. No matter what I put the fixture ovlap setting to, the chase changes on all the fixtures at the same time. The speed and cross fade settings work just fine.

If I set the fixture overlap on a single cue it works but not correctly. The first fixture changes when the slider is about 80 percent. The rest of the fixtures change in order but it all happens within the next 10 percent of fader travel.
Not at all how I remember.

Hi,

I have been unable to reproduce this. If possible could you please give exact steps to repeat, preferably from new show.

For example, my test method was for an HTP and LTP attribute in each scenario:

(HTP cue)
- New show
- Patch 4 x dimmer
- Select fixtures, @@ (set to 100% intensity), record cue on playback fader
- Clear
- [Edit Times], select playback and set fixture overlap to 50%
- Set to mode 2
- Exit
- Open HUD and DMX output view to observe
- Lift playback fader slowly

= When first dimmer reaches 50% the second dimmer begins to fade in. When first dimmer reaches 100% the second dimmer is at 50% and the third dimmer begins to fade in. etc. This is the expected behaviour.

(HTP chase)

- Use above patch
- Select all dimmers, @ 0%
- Select first two dimmers, @@, record chase step one
- @ 0%
- Select third and fourth dimmer, @@, record chase step two
- Finish creating chase
- Clear
- [Edit Times], select chase and set fixture overlap to 50%
- Open HUD and DMX output view
- Fire chase and reduce speed to help observe

= Dimmer 1 fades in. When it reaches 50%, dimmer 2 begins to fade in. They both reach full, there is a pause then dimmer 1 begins to fade out. When it reaches 50% dimmer 2 starts to fade out. When dimmer to reaches 50% dimmer 3 begins to fade in. etc.

Repeat with an RGB fixture where the test attribute is blue at 100%. Record a palette with RGB @ zero for resetting purposes and observe using DMX view.

Note that I'm not entirely convinced about the chase behaviour, particularly the pause. Also note that in order for the overlap to work when fading out in a chase it requires the zero intensity, otherwise there is no overlap. But this does then result in other issues with the fade. Finally, overlap in chases is entirely dependant on crossfade.

So my problem seems to go back to fixture order. I have a total of 30 LEDs patched for a show and when I go to change the fixture order they start at fixture 157 and go up sequentially from there. There is no trace of the first 156 fixtures. I have to manually order them from 1 to 30 and I have no problems with overlap at all. Any ideas why those fixtures seem to default to such high fixtu numbers? The only oth thing on the whole show was 6 dimmers

Makes sense. Strange though. I can't think of any reason but I'll have a go at trying to reproduce.
