Avolites has made indeed a great effort in order to simplify the personalities updates with these autoexpanding exe files, and automatically creating backup folders and so on.
Nevertheless, for any different than english language for windows OS sistems, the path is going wrong in the case of the Cache Builder (not the same for the Visualiser updates, wich are ok):
In my case, (windows in spanish), when you update the Visualiser personalities, the process will look for a C:\Archivos de Programa\Avolites\Vis\Personalities (and Extensions) folder and will expand and backup there.
Not the same for the Cache Builder, the file will be extracted to the english path in every case, C:\Program Files\Avolites\Vis\Pers, creating a new folder when not existing, and thus making obligatory to move this folder to where the Cache Builder is located (Archivos de Programa\etc...) and making the backup services unusefull.
Could this be fixed maybe for later updating files? (Thx)

Cache Builder updatings and Windows

I think I've fixed this. Could you download the Cachebuilder personality files again tomorrow from around 9am (BST), and check where they install to again.
The problem was that the registry key that is used to detect where cachebuilder stores it's personalities is empty by default - it only stores the path if you change it yourself. Unfortunately, when I wrote the personality file installer, I didn't think about people changing their path when they installed cachebuilder! This should work for people with non-English versions of windows, although may still break if you install to a completely custom path - I'll have to fix that when we release the next version of cachebuilder.
Many thanks for letting us know!
Phil

Thanks for your quick reply, Phil.
Unfortunatelly, I've got to tell you that now the files are being spreaded directly over the C:\ root directory without any containing folder and not creating any backup one, probably as no *.r20 file were founded during the process.
I will wait for news. Thx again.

Ok, I'll take another look at some point today for you.
*edit*
I've just put up another new installer - It definately doesn't put the files in C: (another silly little mistake). If it can't detect the path it should now choose PROGRAMSDIRECTORY/Avolites/Cache Builder/Pers/ where PROGRAMSDIRECTORY is the windows default for your language. It certainly works on the English version of Windows, but again, as I don't have a foregin language version to test on I'd appreciate it if you could check it again for me.
Thanks

No current directory
I installed cachebuilder today on my Vista laptop. When I run the program there is nothing in the "personalities in current directory" window. Should it have defaulted to something? Do I need to create a directory and download personalities to it? Has it put it someplace elce on my computer? The default directory named in the readme contains 1. the application, 2. a jpg file and 3. the readme.
Update: I tried downloading (www.avolitesdownload.com/Personality Library/default.asp) by clicking the link in the directions. That delivers a file not found message. i'm going to try again on an XP computer.
Update: I found and downloader the needed file from the personality page. I ran the exe file and all populated normally. Now, off to try the program. Note to webmaster:update file location in readme, etc.
