Right, so I tried to sort out the remote function for my Expert today, managed to get it linked to the desk etc but when trying to use it cant get any channels working and the desk itself then wont function properly (most of the faders dont respond) until the remote is turned off. Any ideas what might be going wrong? I followed the instructions in the manual.
Cheers Luke

Currently the remote is not operational, that's the plain hard truth. Hopefully will be fixed in one of the upcoming versions.
For the moment, some people are reporting successfull uses of VNC in various versions - but you mileage will vary, and installing any other software is out of the limits...
Sorry mate.

Of course the answer will always be: installing other software is absolutely under your personal responsability.
However, there are VNC flavours which can run from a USB stick without any installation. I am pretty sure they wouldn't do any harm. I'd strongly recommend to use them only during programming, not at showtime

So... VNC is really a big family of programs by today. And essentially you'd need to install a VNC server on the desk (there would be ways to reverse this, but then you'd need a VNC server on your mobile device...). And running a not-Avolites-related server on your console.., hey man, c'mon, all blame will be on you.
But: google for Portable VNC. There is at least a portable TightVNC (not free), and one of RealVNC (free, german docs only). Portables can be run from media like thumbdrives, do not require installation, do not tamper with the registry or other M$Windows parameters, and simply disappear as soon as you quit the program. I'd deem such a thing quite okay for that purpose.
As for the client, of course you'll need to find the suitable version for your device.
