Titan Geni Oby 600 MH

Postby ksl28 » 19 Jan 2011, 14:38

Hello geeks :)

Ive got a huge problem, ive got 4 oby 600 MH 15 DMX - 8 bit

Only 2 of them works...

I mean only 2 of them works with the titan - when i unplug the dmx from one of the ineffected MH, then i goes back to start position and works fine... (with a demo run controlled on the head)

Ive been told from the person that sold me the MH - thats its the Titan that is fucking...
Atleast when he tried with hes, it worked fine...

He told me that it might be sending to many packages to the heads...?
Its been updated to V4 - still dosent work...

Is he wrong or? If he aint, how can i do it? :S

PS:
Im pretty new at this :)

If you patch it as a 13 dmx i dosent keep reset...

If two work and two don't then my guess would be bad cable.

Can you eliminate this first? Address all units to 001. Make sure they are all set to the correct mode. Use one working cable and connect each individually and see if they all work. If they do then swap cables and see if you find a faulty one.

There are settings for DMX timing which you can find in System/DMX Setup but I would have thought all would have the problem if this was the problem.

/edit: Also, I did find some faults with these personalities yesterday. I don't think this is related to the problem from your description but you can always test this by patching dimmer channels instead. Hopefully the updated personalities will be online shortly.

Ok. I'm still a bit confused about why 2 work and 2 don't. If not cable then possibly wrong mode? (Note that according to my information the 8-bit is 13 channels and the 16-bit is 15)

But your last post is interesting. Another person has said that they have problems with shutter also. But the personality matches the manufacturer instructions so perhaps these are wrong?

The shutter should be on channel 2.

According to manufacturer it is closed at 0 and open between DMX 1 and 7.

It would be very useful if you can open DMX view (press view and then patch). With the channels patched as dimmers can you please raise channel one to full (intensity) and then select the second dimmer and carefully increase value with the wheel (is more accurate than fader). Hopefully the light will come on at some point. Can you confirm from the DMX view what value = on?

Finally, can you confirm if you use personality OBY-600 or OBY-600U?

Thankyou.

Ok. Can you confirm exact DMX value for open shutter using the dimmers?

That's fine.

To be clear, if you are able to control Pan/Tilt from the console then it is unlikely to be a problem with DMX timing. Usually it will either work or won't.

But it will be very useful to check the shutter channel on a real fixture and see if the personality is still wrong. Because the 'open' values often need to be precise it is quite easy to miss it when using a fader. Selecting the fixture and moving the wheel slowly will be much more accurate.

Tilt

Pan/tilt worked fine - in fixture and dimmer (if you patched it as a 13dmx)

Hi All,

I'm still not clear on exactly how 'only 2 of them works'. What aspects of the fixture are you not able to control? Does it locate with the shutter closed? Does it locate at all?

As Nic said, if you can get the fixture to work fully when patched as dimmers then we need to know the correct channel order and exact DMX values. Without this information I can't update the personality file. It might also be an idea to update your desk to the latest version of the personality library to rule out your copy of the file being corrupted.

One of them keep reseting when it have located it self (if its connected to DMX - and patched as 15 dmx...!)

The other keeps shutting all the time, and keeps changing color on the color wheel

Hi,

Sorry, I must ask more questions to understand.
One of them keep reseting when it have located it self

You are saying that when you select the fixture and press locate the moving head resets itself?
Is this true for all four or just one?
If it is all four then there is a problem with the personality. If it is just one then there is something wrong with the moving head (either wrong mode or a different software version).
The other keeps shutting all the time, and keeps changing color on the color wheel

Do you have any control of this head when patched as dimmers (for example pan/tilt)?
