Expert Titan and Hippo Active Fixtures

Postby davewarehouselx » 18 Feb 2010, 16:35

I've had a hunt but can't find an answer to this and so any help appreciated:

I have an Expert Titan running running V2 software and a Hippo V3 HD running the latest 3.0.13b software. The 2 are happily linked via Artnet.
I am attempting to use the active fixture plug-in, following the instructions in the Expert manual. The Active Fixture window on the Hippo shows that it is connected to the Expert, however it continually displays 'Hippo Error : No connection!'. Checking on the Expert i can see the Hippo as an Active Fixture when I look in the Avotalk settings in system. It does not however allow me to patch it as an Active Fixture in Program mode.
I have tried various re-boots etc and checked all network addressing. I am confident the Artnet link is fine as I have successfully patched and controlled the Hippo as a normal (not Active) fixture.

Has anyone else come across this?

Thanks In advance

Hippo Update

Postby davewarehouselx » 22 Feb 2010, 11:45

Just had a quick chat with Hippo tech support - they said that apparently the plug-in never worked very well and has stopped working completely with the last few Hippo software releases. So there we go!

They did however mention that Avo are doing some work with CITP - apparently allowing transfer of Thumbnail images from Media Servers to the desk. If anyone knows where this work has go to (and whether it is going to appear in Titan soon), that would be interesting to know.

Cheers!

The plug-in works perfectly with v3.0.12 as stated on our website but changes to the Hippo software meant it no longer works with newer versions of the Hippo software. We are adding extensive support for CITP in the next release and I believe Hippo are also making the same efforts to support CITP.

Thanks for the reply Olie - I look forward to seeing the CITP features when they arrive then.

All the best
