Holy crap!

Postby SL » 27 Dec 2009, 23:15

Had a tv show today, and when running the show i`ve had some difficultys. The desk lost 3 times his dmx out, so everything went to black (and that sucks real hard on TV). The first and second time al went to black for 1-2 seconds, but the third time it was around the 10 seconds that everything was black.

Before the show i switched off the auto save, so that wasn`t the problem. The console was running for an hour or 6 for the first time of losing dmx, between the first and second time there was +/- 30-40 minutes, and between the second and third time there was 20-25 minutes.

Help?

This is not really something I can help with but I can think of some extra details you could provide that might be useful:

Console? Pearl Expert running Titan 2.0, yes?

Which physical outputs did this involve? If more than one affected all?

Did you notice if you still had control over firing cues/chases during the blackout? For example by looking at the HUD or LED mimics/LCD for connected chases? I do appreciate this is not easy to try or remember when there is a problem during a show.

Have you checked Usb connections to the DMX panels internally?

What was the nature of the DMX distribution post-console? Can you be certain this was a fault originating at the desk and not another device?

Yeah, sorry. Expert Titan 2.0.

I`ve used only DMX output A.

Nothing changed on the HUD, Led and LCD, so i think it would be possible to fire cues. I was not doing anything with the desk during the black outs, so that`s a guess.

No didn`t checked USB, because the load out was right after the show, and now i`m just awake ;)

I`m pretty sure that it was the expert, cause i`ve had an moving light before me, and he lost his dmx input...

If you were definitely able to see that a fixture had lost DMX then it sounds to me like a fault somewhere on the line.

This could be a hardware fault within the console (ie. Usb cable) but could just as easily be a faulty cable or buffer.
