Exprt to Titan Fixture personality conversion

Postby Dino » 25 Oct 2009, 03:21

My small theatre has 12 (hopefully rare) Neo Neon Mech fixtures. The fixtures do not behave quite as documented by the manufacturers.

The Locate/Shutter open, Lamp-off macro and other Mech functions either do not work or do not respond reliably using the full range of specified values. javascript:emoticon('')

Some time ago, I wrote more reliable Perl Expert R20 versions of the Neo Neon Mech 5 & 6 fixture personalities.

Would it possible to know how to convert these R20 Expert personalities into D4 files for Titan?

Is there documentation for the D4 personality format that I can follow to write a new set of personalities for Titan?

Thanks - Dino

For Titan personality software contact fixturesupport@avolites.com.

But of course if the current definitions are wrong then it would be useful to give all the details via bug report section of online library. That way it gets fixed for everyone, even if you write your own in the meantime.

I am happy to share. I did send the updated Mech 5 & Mech 6 R20 personality files s to support@avolites.com last week. Unfortunately, I have received no response to date. Can you help?

It is always best to submit a bug report. Our personality engineer works off the bugs list while emails can get lost. If you submit a bug report you can be sure it will get looked at.

Ok,

There were too many bugs to fit in the web form and not enough space to post full the personality files. As these fixtures are rare, I guess few people would be able to fully test these.

I will send the files to the linked address.

I would still be interested in documentation for the D4 format so that the personalities can be fine tuned for new Titan functionality.

Many thanks

Unfortunately, there has been no response from fixturesupport@avolites.com or support@avolites.com

I would try feeding in the fixture issues into the bug report site one-by-one, but am quite seriously discouraged by the lack of response and documentation.

I have de-rigged 4 of the fixtures and fitted 8 Strand Preludes in their place. Hopefully this will give me time to work out the D4 format.

What is the problem with the bug report form? I don't know of any limits.

As I said you need software to edit/create personalities. It is not a matter of documentation.

If you have Mech5 & Mech6 fixtures available in-house for testing that would be great. If not, I can help out.

Still, no worries, D4 appears to be a fairly simple XML format.
