Cache Builder and Profile names

Postby bjkered » 11 Jun 2009, 11:13

Hi good Morning New to Avo Boards and Just learning.

Q . About Cache Builder.

I notice when I was trying to find some Fixture profiles that the File names on the computer change when they appear in cache builder . cache builder seems to introduce an "_" ( underscore in the file name for the r20 file) and hence they do not match the names on the download site as well for the fixtures.

Am I doing something wrong or is this normal
Regards

I would imagine this is the difference between 'name on desk' and actual .r20 filename.

Name on desk is defined within the personality file. The reason they are different is that the file system is restricted to the old 8 character limit and to make it slightly easier to understand the names they can be longer when displayed on the LCD for patching.

'Name on desk' is shown next to filename in the personality library.

Thank you

That is it when I looked in Cache Builder i was expecting ( and Looking ) for teh File name and not the Desk name as I assummed that the desk name was as it stated, for the desk I had assummed that the Cache builder was using the file name asit had such a Window slook and feel to it.

Thanks found the personalities quickly now and got them loaded to the desk
