shape LTP fade out

Postby public adress » 02 Dec 2008, 23:12

I have a little question about shapes.

When i program a shape on to my fixtures e.g. a circle I use te LTP fade time to let the fixtures go graduatly from there position into the shape but when I run the shape on a playback fader, the moment I put the fader down de fixtures go rapidly back to their original positions. Can I make the pan tilt movement fade out to so that they wil move smoothly to their orignal position?
Or am I just programming wrong??

Thanx..

Try setting the memory to mode 2.

That's an option indeed but then the fader will control speed and size of the shape. Can also program it that the size isn't controled by the fader??

Already thanks for the quick reply on my post.

You can define which elements are timed (either for mode1 or mode2) via Shape Gen/Playback Parameters.

So, you can keep speed as a constant value, but size must be set to timed (fader) to accomplish what you require.

I'm strugling for a while now with the same problem. So if I read it right here's what i have to do in my situation:
I build a shape wich includes a circle movement without any pan/tilt information recorded on channel mode.
I put the playback parameters on speed timed and size static. cause i want to alter my speed during show.
I'm experiencing that the shape kicks in when i fade it up. making it very ugly to look at. most of the time i work with the dims down of my moving lights but that doesnt work all the time.
So i have to correct the ltp fade time in edit times? Is this correct or do I have to do more?
Cause i tried a lot of stuff but it did'nt work so far.

You must set size to timed.

Then timed fade in can then be set with LTP fade + mode1 (automatic when defining a time), but this will still snap out.
For a smooth fade out you must set to mode2 and manually use the fader. You can do this in conjunction with LTP fade time but it may give strange results.

Ok I was already affraid of that. Thats how I used it before, but i didn't like the fact that I haven't got the speed under the fader. But that means bad luck for me.
thanks for your reply!

Well, you can have speed on fader but it's with size! This is a long-standing compromise. Hopefully we'll be able to separate the two in Titan.

I just did a show yesterday and went with the size and speed on fader again, and it works a lot better and the looks where pretty ok so ill probably stick with that.
