Hoping...

Well, all this sounds great about Titan. I've read all the lit on your site and I am really really excited to get my hands on it, but...

Fixture parking? Virtual dimmer?

What about submaster legend display for Expert?

I presume you are talking about the Pearl Expert as these features are already in the Diamond 4.

Fixture parking?

This will be in the second release of the software which will be out late this year early next year.

Virtual dimmer?

Included in the first release of the software.

What about submaster legend display for Expert?

Again this is in the first version and extends far beyond just sub master display.

Fixture parking is already in the D4 software... are you saying its not going to be in the first release of titan?

That would seem weird to remove a feature...
Or do you mean entire fixture parking, as compared to how its done now on a channel by channel basis?

Hoping us Beta Testers can start trialling soon!

Much of the software is a re-write, so I guess it would be wrong to suggest anything had been removed.

But things have moved on since those earlier posts and all being well I believe parking will be in the first release.

Titan

Postby jhld » 08 Oct 2008, 01:50

Well. I, for one, would really like more specific info. The drips and drabs all sound fantastic, but a lot of it is vague. The little vids on the home site give tidbits, but I want more. For instance, when the video throws out something like 12 universes… that's amazing! But how? I assume Art-Net would be involved for this. Never mind the wish list topic. Now I want real nuts and bolts. Plus, these tidbits open up a whole new world of questions for me: Are old Expert shows compatible? Are titan shows compatible with Pearl and Tiger? Titan uses Diamond fixture libraries? How about a transition chart, or even better - posting the manual for Titan on-line now.

You can assign up to twelve universes. Obviously the hardware only has four DMX outputs. To make use of more would, as you say, involve other protocols or devices.

Titan Expert shows are not compatible with old Expert or Pearl/Tiger. They are compatible with D4.

Yes, it uses D4 library.

Just like it's important to sometimes delay a release to make absolutely certain everything is correct, it might be a mistake to post the manual etc just in case something is added or removed in the time.

Other than posting a manual, it would be difficult to know where to start. But if you have any more specific questions then I will try and answer.

Remote Focus on iPhone or iPod only???

Postby andrewginn » 09 Oct 2008, 00:23

Once Titan is released, will we be able to use any type of PC running D4 Desktop as a remote focus device or will we have to have an iPod or iPhone to use this feature? Basically, what I'm wanting to do is link my tablet PC running D4 Desktop wirelessly through artnet. Will that be possible??

You have mentioned and mixed at least 3 technologies in your post.

- Titan Desktop will run on any Windows PC and with a purchased dongle will output ArtNet.
- Titan Remote works on the IPhone through a web page hosted on the console. It is just like connecting to an internet site but locally.
- Matrix will also work on any Windows PC but at the moment will not remote control the console. You will need the Titan engine running on the same PC.

I think it's still unclear about the remote.

It was my understanding that, being browser based, this would work on any device capable of running one (and with wireless connection, obviously).
But you mentioned IPhone specifically.

Sorry if i caused any confusion. The reason that i mentioned iPhone and iPod is that the product video mentions them. I'm understanding from Olie that i would be able to use a PC as remote focus if I purchased the ArtNet Dongle. It would be great to be able to do like niclights is saying and use any computer with a browser to link to D4 without the dongle. Let me know if this is going to be possible.

Pearl Titan

Postby jhld » 12 Oct 2008, 19:19

If Pearl Titan has the capability of 12 universes, that would mean patching many more than 2048 fixtures - and more fixtures than there are handles. How would we access these fixtures?

Then that wouldn't be a problem. Not that I can make any sense of your calculation.
Even on standard Pearl personalities you have 39 attributes available per fixture. D4 personalities allow more than 100.
