Use 'record by channel' mode.

When you do this only the values in the programmer will be recorded.

Values in the programmer are shown in the LCD with a 'w' or 'm'.

For example:

"1mFF" will be recorded.
"1-FF" will not be recorded.

The easiest way to do this is to press [clear], select fixtures, select attributes, change values and then record. Do this at every stage.

You can remove unwanted values by selecting fixtures, attributes and then use the [off] button. This will show in the LCD as "1-OFF" - merge this with a playback or record on top of an existing palette.

It is very important you are precise in this way.

That is correct. That is how it is designed to work.

Normally you would not want things like colour/gobo or position to change while you move the fader. For this reason they are LTP (Latest Takes Priority). Dimmers are HTP (Highest Takes Priority).

The majority of consoles work this way.

I suggest you Google for more information on HTP & LTP along with reading the manual.

It is possible, but only in static memory. Not in a chase.

You do this by using mode 2:

(For this to work the attribute of particular fixture must be set to 'fading'.
This is done from Program mode/Patch/Patch Utilities/Set Instant/Fade.
You need a VDU connected to see current settings.)

Key to Program mode.
Select fixtures.
Select colour attribute(s).
Set value(s) for red colour.
Press [memory]
Press numeric 2
Press empty playback SWOP.
Set value for white colour.
Press [clear]

Now when you raise the playback it will fade from white to red, but remember this will depend on fixture capabilities. For example, if fixture only has a colour wheel (not CMY mixing) then it might fade through other colours to get there. For CMY it will always work fine, but make sure you always record all three attributes.

Note that the idea of mode 2 is to allow fading of LTP values, but it is not possible to define the colour it fades from. In the above example we have manually set the colour to be white, but if this value is changed (ie. from another playback or palette etc.) it will fade to red from the new value.

You can toggle the mode by using [edit times] menu.

You cannot use mode 2 in chases.

it IS possible to have the color revert back to a previous color, but...

- you must record your playback as a "mode 2" playback
- the color parameter(s) must be set to fading, not instant.

color mixing devices (CMY) are always set as "fading" by default, but fixtures with one or more fixed color wheels are usually set to "instant".

you can change this in the patch menu (patch>patch utilities>instant/fading) but it may not always be the wisest thing to do as it will affect all programming of those fixtures.
for instance, color chases will no longer snap between two colors on the wheel, but fade between them with the speed and cross-fade of that chase. pretty annoying if the colors are spaced wide apart...

You record palettes using [store palette] button. Is that what you mean?
