Fake pearls

Postby myusername » 03 Aug 2007, 10:40

I'm going to remain as annonymous as possible here, for obvious reasons.

the company I work for just came into possession of 3 fake pearl 2004 desks.
they were bought in China by the boss who trully innocently did not realise what they were as does not know what pearls are, hes not a tech type boss.

They really badly represent avolite and pearl, and are extremely unstable (eg "forget" some to move some macs, or re-open shutters on a "go" or raise dimmer channels, forget that a channel is up till you give the master a "nudge") and as such are extremely "dangerous" for gigs!

The manual seems to be a word for word copy (and image for image), however they have changed the word "PEARL" to "xxxxx" (the desk name) and even quote the avolites download pages for fixture personalities.

Just thought I should inform.

I have done so to my boss and we will be discussing what to do later.

Edit:
Desk name and link removed.

Thankyou. Avo are aware of this problem.

This is not new and has prompted pointless discussion before. For that reason I will close it now.
