LED fixture problem on Pearl2004

Postby mcl » 15 Mar 2007, 12:29

I have patched Different LED lights onto the Pearl and found them ok and bring a colour up but if I clear that fixture from the programmer the colour is still on and I have to go back into the programmer and select the colour and wind it back down what am I doing wrong?

If you patch a Led fixture that does not have a seperate dimmer channel, there are 2 options:

1. Patch the RGB as LTP, the channels always stay at the last value you put them at. This is the way pan/tilt and color channels work on a pearl. The advantage is, that you can give stuff a color and clear the programmer, and they still output.

2.patch the RGB as HTP. This is the way dimmer channels work. If you clear the programmer, all values return to 0, meaning the light goes off. for RGB fixtures this has it's pros and cons:
pro: clearing the programmer turns the fixtures off
pro: the fixtures turn off if you lower a normal (mode0 or 1) memory
pro: the grandmaster works
con: clearing the programmer turns the fixtures off
con: a pearl can only handle 200HTP channels, this fills up really fast
con: lowering the grandmaster Changes the color

I usually patch all RGBLed fixtures as LTP. I then make a Pallette with color "black", which I use for turning them off. Most memories that include the leds are either mode2 or shapes. Both turn the fixture off when you lower the fader

Hi friends.

Also about leds... i use on my shows TP81 LED's... and everthing is ok, i have also the same problem with blackout, solved using a "black" color memory.

But, i continue have a difficulty, how can i dimme my leds during the show... i have already try many possible soluctions with no effect. at this time i have only 2 situations... led's "full on" or dark.

can you help  ?

(sorry for my bad english)

Regards :D

This is the big problem with LED's that do not have an additional global dimmer control.

Personally I never patch in LTP for this very reason. Patching in HTP will always mean you can lower fader and get blackout.

As you are using LTP the only solution is, as CoenCo said, to use mode2. This makes an LTP playback proportionally fadeable. Try programming a playback with RGB at zero and set to mode 2 (either when storing or through [edit times] menu)

Pushing the fader up should 'fade down' existing RGB channels to zero.

IMO the most significant problem with using mode2 is that you cannot create chases in this mode.

Pixeline Internal Effects

Postby kaboni » 11 May 2007, 11:02

I have recently had issues with the built in effects on the pixeline range and a Pearl 2004.
If I record a type 0 or type 1 memory which includes the intenal effects of the 110EC batons for example, and then go to another memory which does not include them, the effect stops but remains as a static look instead.
For example from a memory with a blue/green chase to a memory with just blue, the batons change to blue but some cells remain green.
After every memory is recorded I always clear the cache by pressing clear several times, but the only way I have found to completely clear is by pressing the reset button which I obviously do not want to do live.
The batons were set up and patched in their 4+E mode using 11 channels.
This also applies to the 1044 batons in Max 2 and the Pixel par 90's aswell.
Any tips?

Clearly that is related to some of the channels being LTP and some HTP. The LTP ones are remaining and HTP ones are fading out.
Seems to me the obvious solution is to be more accurate with your programming and make sure each memory contains all the information (when using record by channel).

Other more complex options you have are mode2, editing personality to suit/using a combination of custom personality and dimmer handles.

As an aside, pressing [clear] removes information from the programmer and deselects fixtures. Multiple presses have no additional effect. To remove the remaining output in your example you would select the fixture, relevant attribute and wheel down. Or recall a palette/memory containing the attribute.
