Sapphire 2004 DMX recording issue

Postby bergcrane2 » 15 Mar 2007, 14:12

I'm recording looks from another console into the programmer of my Sapphire04 and am getting bugs. I'm sending only color information from VL3ks and Cyber2 and the Sapphire sometimes sees all dmx info. Also, sometimes it's seeing control info from the VLs and the FX wheel from the Cybers. I clear the programmer, do a soft reset and alls fine (exept the Control/FX thing). It's not a big deal with just a couple of attributes, I can just shut them off. Just wondering if anyone else has seen this.
BTW, I just got my new Sapphire yesterday! WooHoo!

What console are you using to send send the data? It's quite possible it sends some "base"-values for "released"-parameters, and they might get included in your programmer. I'm assuming you are using DMX-in from the sapphire?

I assume you know, but you can make the sapphire record in different ways:
Record by channel (records only modified data)
Record by fixture (records all data, for fixtures that have modified channels)
Record stage (records all data for fixtures that have intensity above 1%)

I'm sending from a Hog1k to DMX IN on the Sapphire. I'm just recording pallettes at this time. I have the desk set to record by Channel. Quite possibly the Hog is sending some base values as you stated.

Got it. I just have to stop thinking like a Hog operator. ;)

ghehe.. quite a difference between a Hog and an Avo.
I'm in the process of going the other way. First response: Cool! Touch Screens, but where are my faders?

I used to run a Sapphire years ago, but after 5 years on a Hog, I'm relearning the Avo thang. I'll tell you one thing, being able to run both, makes you a better operater. For my house gig, I need as many different consoles as possible. Some touring guys know how to program an Avo, some a Hog, some nothing at all!
