Azure Problem

Postby kay » 03 Oct 2006, 06:22

Hi, has anyone encountered an incident like mine with Azure Shadow?
Problem: I was doing a small show and jus minutes before the show started my desk started to restart by itself repeatedly.I had no idea was was wrong? so i switched off the main power and restared the azure but it didn't solve the problem. i tried switching on and off a few times and finally it was ok for the time being.then again during the show, it just froze...i couldn't control anything.wat a luck i had on tht day. So anyone have a solution to my problem.jus wanted to get the Azure fixed so i won't face any of these problems in future again.

Regards

I had the same thing with my azure 2k, anytime I went near the disk function the desk reset! , I replaced the floppy drive and reseated all internal ribbons seems to be okay now. :?
Dont bring an idiot with you, you'll always find one when you get there!.

Hey GLX,thx for reply.
well, today i opened up and checked the Azure and i suspected that the I/C board was shorted as i found a small bolt and nut inside.I was surprised. i checked throughly if it had came off loose from some part but that wasn't the case.and suprisingly today i switched on the desk the whole day and tested but nothing happened.it seems quite strange.Hope nothing happens on the next show onwards.I'll keep my fingers crossed.

Usually a desk that keeps restarting/resetting is a sign that the voltage reaching the motherboard is too low.
The usual reason for this is either the power supply (check that it has had ECN 099 performed see link below)
http://www.avolites.org.uk/support/ecns/ecn-0099.htm
or more usually voltage getting dropped across the connectors, due to smoke oil, oxidation, loose connector etc.
If this is the case then quickest way to get the desk operational again is to reseat all the power supply connectors so that there is a fresh connection. A more permanent solution to this is to use contact treatment oil or replacing the connectors.
The motherboard needs to get as close to +5volts as possible, anything below 4.7V ish is asking for trouble. Measure with a meter to confirm what is going on.
