Pearl Titan Expert - Pan and Tilt issue

Postby SJPMC » 28 Dec 2017, 18:09

Hello,

I just finished patching my expert and everything worked fine, until I made some positions for my sharpies, since then all of my washes keep very slowly doing pan and tilt, even with the desk cleared, and whenever I try to pan/tilt it moves at the same speed (about 0-255 in 1,5 minutes)

I have a very important show upcoming and I'd need this fixed, anyone could help me out please?

PS : Tried deleting the pos I made and didn't fix it, didn't try repatching though,

Thanks in advance.

Without more information it sounds like the P/'T speed for the washes has been changed to slow.

If you locate the washes do they move quickly to the default position? Which washes are they?

They're chinese but they're 12x36w from art system (saddly, as we have the auras out) when I locate then they go slow to the default position, aswell when I move their P/T attributes they go very slow aswell

Are they in the personality library? If so, what is the manufacturer and model name?

If not is there a function that controls P/T speed? This could be a function within a dedicated attribute such as 'P/T Speed' or a function within another attribute such as 'Control' (in this case it might need a specific sequence to activate it, normally achieved by fixture macros).

If it is controlled by a dedicated attribute then I would expect it to resolve when located (assuming the locate value is set correctly). If it is a fixture level setting that can be changed via a specific sequence I would expect it to return to normal after power-cycling the fixture (unless it is has been set via the fixture menus).

They aren't, I edited the fixtures from R20 and made a D4 personality with the personality editor, and they worked fine, including the pan and tilt (the attributes didn't have the names on the wheels that is ok) but since I patched the dimmers the P/T is very slow...
I can try changing the speed, but how do I do that? (I'm a noob at Avolites, just starting using it, pardon for such stupid questions)

PS: Tried power cycling and factory reset on the wash, didn't fix it, even the desk....

Thanks in advance!

It is impossible to say without more details about the fixture. Do you have a link to the product manual or other documentation with the full DMX mapping information?

What happens if you start a new show and just patch one of the washes? Does it respond quickly then?

I will try to do it as we go 2 days earlier to the show, and I'll try to do so as seeing if there's a P/T speed attribute and trying to repatch everything, will have to re-do all of the palettes right?

At this point it's just a test to try and understand what is causing the problem. New show, patch, locate. Does it work then?

Oh, actually got my hands on the manual, maybe it's the "scan speed".

Anyways, weird that after power cycling both the desk and the fixture it remains like that but if I unplug dmx and reset the motors (fixture doesn't default when dmx is unplugged) it will go on the normal speed to the default pos until it gets dmx back again, and starts going at the slow speed back to the locate value, weird though.. (maybe locate value for speed is wrong but it worked before...)

PS : still haven't tested as the desk is loaded for a show in January 4th

Yes, it will be 'Scan Speed'. Make sure channel 12 is set to zero.

Does that have to do with the personality?
