Pearl Tiger with Midi Faders?

Postby 2113 » 16 Oct 2016, 06:53

The venue I am currently working has a Pearl Tiger as their main lighting console and they don't have the budget to upgrade for a while.

I"d like some extra faders for playbacks/cue stacks since the Tiger only has 10. I was considering a midi controller that has faders, but I've personally never used Midi control on a Avo console, so I wanted to see what the limits are for Midi on the Pearl Tiger.

All I really want is to be able to use the faders on a midi controller for playbacks and to trigger cue steps. Is this something that I'd be able to do with the Pearl Tiger? I wanted to get a bit of info before I went off and got a midi controller.

Any help would really be appreciated.

Thanks

You can change page with program change and trigger playbacks with level using note on/playback no./key velocity but I'm fairly sure it just mirrors the ones on the console so you wouldn't gain anything in this situation. You can get a fader wing for the Tiger with 5 more faders.

Thanks for the info.

Would I be able to to use the midi controller as a different page of of the console? So the console is playback page one, and the midi controller is playback page 2? That would be really helpful as well.

Also, I've been trying to finder the extra fader wing for the Tiger, I've looked everywhere, but I can't find any available.

I don't think so. As far as I know it can only control the playbacks on the current page. Sending page change commands will change it on the console too, albeit without actually moving the roller obviously! I think the main purpose of it was to allow remote replay.

Have you contacted Avolites sales about the Tiger wing?

I see, well that's a bummer.

I have reached out to US sales and I'm waiting for a response, but I think I've asked this before a while back when I first used the Pearl Tiger.

I've been keeping my eye open for one on the used market, but haven't seen anything in a while.
