Software question

Postby Iain » 28 Apr 2006, 17:37

Would it be possiable to write a change in the software for the Pearl to allow pallettes to be recalled via the keypad without having to remember to select the Dimmer parameter. Or have I missed a vital sentance in the manuel! Just a question to help eliminate one more keystroke. Iain

Palettes are recalled according to focus mask. This is deliberate and allows the overlaying of attributes with the ability to only recall one. Selecting dimmer will recall all.

I know that...

....my question was, would it be possible when using the keypad, to overide that and be able to recall a numbered pallatte regardless of it's attribute, and without having to check and make sure that Dimmer is selected. The Sapphire doesn't seem to mind where it's at.

I can't say about the Sapphire, but this would surely have to be a user option since many users would expect to be able to recall by focus mask regardless of method (ie. add button/numeric/legend)?

Have you ever been in the empty arena at 4am, programing for 14 hours, hit 103, recall pallette and nothing happens. You say to yourself, 'oh dear, dash it. I wonder why that didn't work.' Then you realise it's because dimmer isn't selected. That is my question. Can the software be manipulated to ignore the 'all parameter button', ie Dimmer, when using the key pad to recall pallettes and focuses.

I understand what you are saying, but you can't just change something like this. People will just as likely use this deliberately and most importantly expect it to do so. That is why I suggest a user option.

User option it is. No many how many times I RTFM there's always one more thing. Thanks for the input, Iain

Just been wading through old mails pending a rationalisation of the wish-list and it turns out this had already been discussed, although more with regard to Store Palette, which (wrongly IMO) insists on only storing by selected attribute.
I will add to wish-list during compilation ;)
