Pearl 2000 Upgrade

Postby Justymc » 17 Feb 2006, 00:43

I'm just about to purchase a 2nd hand Pearl2000. Can it be upgraded to the same or similar status as a 2004.
If so what are the major changes if any. Not the obvious ones such as the encoder wheels and the fascia plate etc.

Thanks
Justin

They are for the most part identical. There have been various revisions of the motherboard but all will run the latest software. The only requirement being extended memory. You can determine if you have this installed by looking at the LCD display when running - an 'x' after the % free denotes extended memory - ie. 89% xfree.

You may have to upgrade the AVOS before you can burn the new program, but this is included in the installation disk (I think!)

Pearl 2004 has four separate outputs for the four universes, 2000 has two outputs and splits the universes across the 5 pins meaning you simply need a Y-spit to gain access should you require.
The 2004 also has a usb port although currently this is unused.

If you are unsure then contact Avo with the serial number.
