Newbie question: Fades always pass through white?

Postby Clayton » 02 Feb 2015, 23:03

Hi, experts!

Here's my question:

I set a given set of LED fixtures to dimmer/100 and a given color from the Colour palette (say, "Red", defined as RGB 100/0/0).
Save as the first step in a new chase.
Set the same fixtures to "blue" (RGB 0/0/100) and append as chase step 2.

When I trigger this simple chase, the fixtures do display the proper colors — but mysteriously while crossfading between the two steps, they also appear to be passing through white (RGB 100/100/100).

What is happening and how do I correct this behavior?

Thanks!

I can't think of an obvious reason why this would happen. I would expect the mid point to be magenta (50/0/50) unless a special curve has been applied to one or more of the attributes. But even then there should be no movement on the green channel. Is it possible it just happens to look white-ish at 50/0/50?

Good thought, but they definitely are more than magenta. I get a bright white moment, even if just one channel is being adjusted.

Could it be something set in the reset values of the fixture? Maybe the fixtures are resetting to white when cleared? Where would I check a parameter like that?
