The only cable connection of the mobile is USB and DMX - and neither is designed to provide bullet-proof electric ground. Furthermore, Avolites went that extra mile to make USB as safe as possible: even if some wrong cabling feeds 230v back into your Mobile via DMX, there is a high safety to prevent this from going through to your computer.
In turn, if the DMX cabling is not exactly clean, in particular when you feed several DMX 'locations', e.g. the house lights which run from proper mains, and a tour rig which is fed from a generator, random DMX faults could be possible. In such a situation, providing an earth connection to the Mobile can be the solution.
However, out of the 50+ Mobile users I personally know, only one or two reported using this in rare circumstances.
