Need help about Macro in Titan 7.4

Postby StageProVN » 11 Aug 2014, 09:18

Hello,

I have a question how to use the Macro on the show. I just bought an Expert Pro from Avolites. Now i don't know how to record a Macro although i follow in the manual. This is what i want to do : I would like to record some cues on the faders to macro button, when i'm doing the show, i just press the Macro button and it will fire the cue that i stored it ( i don't need to press and hold this macro button), when i want to change to the next cue, i just press the next macro button and the fixture will change as well. COuld you pls tell me step by step how to do it?

Thanks & Regards.

Hello,

Sorry if I have not understand correctly what you want, but it seems what you need is a cuelist on a macro button.

- Set your first cue by modifying fixtures attributes (I assume you are working in record mode = Channel but, of course, following steps works the same in all record modes).
- Press Record, then 'Create a cue list' (4th softkey on your lcd screen)
- Press one of the empty macro buttons on your touch wing (empty ones will have their led flashing) to store a cuelist to it
- Press the same button once again to record your first cue
- Set your second cue, then press the button again to record your second cue
- And so on...
- When you have all your cues, press Exit. Press clear to empty the programmer.

Now, pressing that 'macro' button should allow you to cycle through your cues.

You can also record the cuelist 'on a fader', launch/connect it and use the red Go button beneath your numeric keypad...

To clarify :

You want to use a cuelist, even if you want to record it on a macro button.
If you need more info or more options for your cuelist, you should refer to cuelist sections in the manual.
You can of course record macros on the macro buttons, but you can also record memories, cuelists and chases.

Macros, those you tried to record and those described in the macro sections of the manual, are not the same thing. You use them to perform repetitive programming tasks in a simple keypress. Basically, what you record when you create a macro is just a succession of keypresses (press key A, then key Y, then key Z, and so on...) and, when you later launch that macro, the desk perform those exact same multiple keypresses with you just pressing one key.

Hi Quidam,

Thank you for the reply. Could you pls show me how to fire a cue, cuelist, event chase on the fader when i press the macro button? For example : I store 3 cues on 3 faders. What i want to do is trigger these cues by using macro buttons no need to raise the fader... Could you pls tell me how to do that?

Thanks

Then there's no need to use the faders, as you can just record your cues directly on the macro buttons...
But since you're asking, I'll assume you need both (or that you just want to use cues you have already programmed) so the easiest way to have it like this is to follow these steps :

- Record your Cue 1 on playback fader 1, Cue 2 on fader 2,... (depending on what you want, you will record memories or one-cue cuelists, I'll get to that later)
- Copy your playback faders to the macro buttons you want to use :
Press Copy, then the blue button of Playback fader 1, then the macro button 1,
Press Copy, then the blue button of playback fader 2, then the macro button 2,...

Please note that this will create, on the macro button, independent copies of the memories/cuelists stored on playback faders.
Therefore, if you edit what you have recorded in Playback fader 1, it will *not* edit the macro button 1.
If you need linked copies, follow the same instructions but, right after pressing Copy, press softkey F to select the 'Link' function.

Regarding recording memories or one-cue cuelists : depending on the choice you made, you will note differences in the macro button behaviour.

If you end up with memories on your macro buttons, pressing the button once is the same raising a memory fader, pressing again is like lowering the fader. Specific behaviours for this can be set with the Edit Times menu.

If there's a cue list on it, pressing the button once is the same raising a cuelist playback fader. By default, it loads the cuelist. It does not launch the first cue, but you can change this behaviour with the Playback Options menu, enabling the Fire First Cue submenu.
Pressing a second, third,..., Nth time is like repeatedly pressing a Go button for that cuelist.
