Help; Dongle not found!

Postby Evelyne » 14 May 2014, 14:37

Hi there.

On our Expert Touch Pro V6.1 I thought it was nice to do an update.
Tried the recovery stick, made the stick but it wasn't bootable, so skipped that option.
Moved on to simply installing the 7.0 update, which went pretty well until the console rebooted.

"DONGLE NOT FOUND" on both screens. Do you know what I should do?! I can't do a recovery because it's a WinXP and that doesn't make bootable sticks.

You need to update the firmware of the USB panels before you will be able to continue. From the Tools menu select Shutdown Software, then from the Control Panel sub-menu, select USB Expert Console. From it's menu select Tools > Acw Service > Start. Once the USB panels have appeared on the left hand side select the Service tab on the right and click the Update Now button. It will automatically update each panel in turn, once it is complete please close USB Expert Console and select Restart Software from the main Tools menu.

Should I try to put the 7.4 update on it?

Sorry, I'd assumed you had put v7.4 on it. Yes, upgrade to that and then follow the instructions above.

Ok, downloading 7.4 now.

Thank you already for your help!! Makes me feel a whole lot less alone in this mess I've created :)

With the 7.4 I will need to do the license thing. Will I already see if I succeeded in this, or will the non-yet-verified-licence also look as if there's no dongle?

You can, and will need to, update the firmware before you can license the console. Once the firmware has been updated you will be prompted for the licence and you should use the options to export a token file from the console.

I went for the temporary lisence, it said 5 days for the full one and there is no time for that! I assume I can't use the console while waiting for Avolites to approve my photos? Or can I?

Now enter the code and see what happens..

Okay, everything seems to be working!!! Even without the USB-update. I am very grateful, hopefully I can help someone on here someday as well.

And can I already apply for the full license now or will I then lose my temp. one? Because it says it takes up to 5 days and that's pretty hard around here :P

When you request a full licence you automatically receive a temporary licence when you submit your request. You can continue to use the console on the temporary licence while the full licence is processed. If you have not already done so you can export the token by going to System mode and selecting the Enter New Licence softkey, this will not effect the licence that you already have.

To help clarify, you can use the console for 14 days on the temporary license. So you just need to make sure you enter the full license before the end of that period. You may find that you receive the full license much more quickly than five days.

Note that if you do need to make a recovery stick on XP you can. When you launch the installer there are some instructions about this that require you to use a free application called 'RMPrep' accompanied with screenshots to show the important settings. It can be helpful to have the latest recovery stick so that in an emergency the recovery process is as quick as possible (as opposed to running a recovery followed by installing latest update).

I am trying to request the full license but now having trouble submitting it, the website is giving me an error, hm. I sent an email to the helpdesk, I still have 14 days left to fix that, should do.

Good idea about having a recovery stick ready to use. Can I create it on a windows computer as well or does it have to be made on the console? And can I test it without it actually booting and installing things? (I love testing, like to be sure of things) I am scared to fuck it back up when running things, haha.

Sorry for my load of questions, I am learning it all by myself so I am pretty much on my own when I fuck up, everyone else is specialised in our mainstage's GrandMa2 and I seem to be the Avolites-girl, but I am still learning. (Kind of guess I always will be :P )
