Dongle Not found, worked just a few moments ago

Postby Billyserious » 01 Mar 2014, 03:13

I have a couple odd issues that just happened.

Programming a show on an expert, wanted to save the file and use it for Titan one. got done programming, saved file to thumb drive, tried to load in in titan one, no luck after alot of attempts, just got the "Show failed to load" message.

Okay, Fine, Ill just redo it in Titan one.

Got done programming, saved it, everything works great. File saved to thumb drive again for client. Installed 7.3 on clients laptop, inserted dongle, tried to run Titan one, "dongle not found" oaky, so then went through the usb expert, tried to repair one usb thing it showed, but it failed to fix it. tried reinstalling, no luck.

Now the odd part.

Took the dongle out and put it right back into my laptop, and now it doesnt see the dongle. Restarted again, didnt get the "dongle not found" message, but there's no DMX outputting out the dongle at all. To verify I took the dmx line and plugged it into the expert and everything was fine.

SO! Here's where Im at currently. original laptop is "offline" and I cant figure out how to get it to send dmx.

Client laptop still cannot see the dongle after multiple restarts and one reloading of program. I erased everything and am currently reinstalling again, trying 7.2.

Also, trying to load the save file I programmed from the Titan one back on to the expert messed up something and then only half the screen on the console showed up, and the show didnt load properly.

Thoughts?

Side note:

ON original working laptop, when I open up the devmgmt.msc, under avolites, I get "avolites Boot Panel" and "windriver"

Main thing is I really cant lose the file that is programmed, so Im a little scared to reinstall.

After reinstalling 7.2 on clients laptop, ran Titan one.

Came to some screen about needing to be activated, manual or online. Chose online. entered username and password. its says "computer key to short" did it again, same thing. then I cam to this site and logged in with the exact same information.

then I tried to do it manually. Entered in all information, serial number etc, then you want a "token file", which you have absolutely no information or direction about. after trying it says "must be an .atf file" Sorry, I dont even know what the hell that is.

This whole process has been completely unreasonable and needlessly difficult. I am really doubting the reliability of the platform.

7.3 has a whole new licensing set up

read my trials and tribulations on it here( also has some info to help out )

viewtopic.php?f=3&t=3213

after installing 7.3 the software should walk you thru getting the token and getting the machine/titanOne linked ( you must do this for every computer you use the dongle with they all have different tokens)

I had some weirdness getting mine on line for the first time but am good to go now .

Every effort made to get a temporary or full license is completely blocked.

Temporary licenses come back from website as "Computer key too short" Even though I have done it a million times and ensured it is correct.

Full license requires the file that there is no direction on how to get.

That is all for the clients computer that I installed 7.2 on.

on the 7.3 previously working laptop the "dongle Not Found" error occurs every time. There isnt even the option to get the license for that version. I have tried every forum link and every solution I could find, driver updates, Log viewer, USB expert, etc, and still nothing. both lights on dongle blink as soon as it is plugged in.

I don't want to get too involved in this but as far as I know the temporary/full license and associated token files are only relevant from 7.3. Previously licensing was done here. Have you tried that (assuming it's manual)?

If you are seeing 'dongle not found' when running 7.3 it might be because the dongle firmware needs updating before it can understand the new licensing. Certainly this is true on the consoles. Check by opening Usb Expert Console, select the dongle, select the 'service' tab on the right. See if it says whether any updates are available.

in usb expert, there is no dongle to select.

When I open it, (freshly installed btw) it says ACW not running, and nothing else anywhere.

If I start ACW, "Titan One Panel 1 (boot mode) shows up. Is that the dongle?

Also, in my drivers, its "avolites boot panel" which hasnt been covered anywhere here that I can find. is that the right driver?

If I choose the "repair usb drivers" under the tools tab, it goes through and then errors on "

Error opening file for writing:
C:\Windows\system32\wdapi1100.dll

Click Abort to stop the installation,
Retry to try again, or
Ignore to skip this file.

With the TitanOne in boot mode it will not be recognised by the software so it will either say Dongle Not Found or ask you to license the software for Offline Titan Simulator use. To get it out of boot, open USB Expert Console and switch to the Service tab, at the bottom click on the button Exit Boot. If this has no effect then press the Program button above and select the file titan_one.bin from the directory C:\Program Files (x86)\Avolites\UsbExpert\Panel Software.

Okay, that worked.

Probably should get that in your troubleshooting thread.
