Titan not connecting to dongle

Postby dgee2 » 28 Aug 2013, 13:32

Hi

I've been trying to get my Titan One working on my laptop. It has been working previously but had to uninstall windows 8.1 and revert to windows 8 and it has thrown a wobbly... It isn't available in the dmx settings in the titan one software.

I have tried doing as described in the following forums but to no avail:
viewtopic.php?f=12&t=2325
viewtopic.php?f=12&t=2604

I have pinned it down to "Acw Usb Service Not Running!" in USB Expert Console. The drivers appear to have installed properly from the information available on this forum.

Any help would be great on this as I'm needing to use this soon
Thanks
Dan

In the Avolites folder under start menu there should be a Log Viewer Pro option. Run this and then select folder, only tick UsbExperService. Hopefully you will see and error which explains why it is not working.

I only have Titan, Titan Mobile, CITP Active Fixture and Install to choose from...
Is there somewhere that I can look for the raw log file?

Did Avolites Expert Usb appear in the list of Windows Services (type services.msc into the Start Menu) and if so what happens when you attempt to start the service?

Yes it does, when I try starting it manually I get the message to say that it has started but stopped.

Howdy, all!

I've got a similar issue, and I'd like to see it resolved. I'm using a laptop with Windows 8 installed, and when I go into "System>DMX Settings", the "ExpertDMX" node has no dropdown menu available.

When I run the LogViewerPro program, I see that the Jungo.Windriver is failing to initialize.

What are the steps to take to enable the USB Device to be allowed to run under Windows 8?

Can you copy and paste the complete error message from the log here? If you go into Device Manager does it show WinDriver as being installed?

"Failed to initialise Windriver. Error: WD_SYSTEM_INTERNAL_ERROR ErrorCode 536870919"

In addition, when I look at the Device Manager, both Windriver and T1-DMX are showing up under Avolites. However, they are both showing yellow triangle Warning signs, and when I investigate, it says "Windows cannot verify the digital signature for the drivers required for this device."

Permissions, possibly? Or a security issue?

The drivers are signed so they probably just haven't installed correctly. In Device Manager can you right click on both Windriver and T1-DMX and select Uninstall, when prompted tick the box to Delete the driver software for this device and click OK. Once you have removed both devices follow the instructions here to uninstall and reinstall the software.

Thanks, Gregory! Your information has been very helpful, and I've been following the steps as faithfully as I know how.

However, I am continually being hung up by the issue I expressed before. After Uninstalling Titan Suite, Rebooting, Re-installing Titan Suite, Rebooting, then plugging in the dongle 3 separate times now (to the tune of 3 hours of time), I STILL run into the same error in Device Manager: "Windows cannot verify the digital signature for the device drivers etcetera"

I've downloaded all 3 USB Expert .ZIP files available (6.0.2, 6.0.4, and 4.6.4), to no avail. I delete the drivers using device manager, re-install using a different pack, and I get the same error. "Cannot verify the digital signature... Contact the device manufacturer... Code 52)"

Help! :(

Alrighty, making progress...

I've now started using "Advanced Boot Options" to disable Driver Signature Checking, which has allowed your drivers to function... and NOW the TitanOne software is failing to recognize that a dongle is plugged in to the system!!

When I look at "Services", the USB Expert service is NOT Running, and when I start it, it stop after I start TitanOne. When I view the error log in LogViewerPro, I see the following from the last time I attempted to start TitanOne:

UsbExpertservice --> Avolites.UsbExpert.Exceptions.PanelStatusException --> Chip configuration checksum error!

Titan --> System.ApplicationException --> Dongle Error: Dongle not found

Titan --> System.ApplicationException --> Avolites Dongle: Error reading MAC Address. Expected: 8, Read: 144.

Titan --> System.IO.PipeException --> The pipe endpoint 'net.pipe://localhost/Dfe/PixelMapperEngine' could not be found on your local machine.

Success!

I managed to achieve a running TitanOne environment! Here are the steps I took:

> Uninstalled Titan PC Suite v7.3
> Rebooted
> Downloaded and Installed Titan PC Suite v7.2
> Rebooted
> "Device drivers cannot be digitally verified"
> Emit choice vocabulary out of frustration
> Rebooted into "Advanced Boot Options"
> Disabled Device Signature Checking
> Started TitanOne and.... voila! It works1

Seems there may be a potential bug with my exact version of Windows 8 and my laptop components. What information is useful to diagnose?

I'd like to try and get things fixed so that A) Stability is as assured as can be and B) I don't have to do an Advanced Boot everytime I want to use the software.

Thanks!
