Palettes

Postby Hectic » 28 Oct 2005, 07:13

When you use preset palettes, do you have to program them or do they automatically work? If so, how do I see them? We are using Martin fixtures.

Can I program them so that I can get Colour palette 1 to OW on all fixture types and palette 2 to be Red, etc.

Any ideas?

They may work automatically if you selected the option 'automatically create preset focuses..' when patching fixtures.

Have you considered reading the manual? Your question encompasses many issues. Palettes have many options and ways of working.

Simple version:
1 ) Program mode
2 ) Make sure you are in 'record by channel' mode
3 ) Select all fixture type one (or just the first fixture of type).
4 ) Select colour attribute
5 ) Use wheel to find relevant colour
6 ) Select all of fixture type two (or just first of type)
7 ) Repeat steps 4-6
8 ) Press [Store Palette] (or [Store Focus]) button
9 ) Press relevant Preset Add button to store
10 ) Press [Clear]

Palettes can be overlayed.
Palettes can be recalled by attribute selected.
If using 'Quick Palettes' user option, then recalling the palettes without any fixtures selected will recall all fixtures stored.
If any fixtures are selected then only information specific to these fixtures will be recalled.

Sorry, maybe I did not express myself very clearly. I was refering to the 'automatically create preset focuses' - can I change them?
As far as recording palettes is concerned - this is no problem it just takes a long time to each time tell the desk that on palette two I want all the fixtures (colour wheel and CMY) to go Red. I would like to have this happen each time I load the particular fixture.

Ahh. Sorry.

The automatic focuses are defined under PFTABLE in the personality file.
Just work out the values required and edit them on a PC. The syntax is detailed in the files & should be fairly simple. (Note that a destination value of -1 means the focus will not be assigned to a button and instead becomes available as a table)
