Preset palettes Robe ledbeam 100??

Postby Beast » 06 Dec 2013, 07:00

Hello.
ST Titan 7.2.
Had a strange experience last day. We have made a standard start show with pallettes for our various fixtures. When patching these in we used preset pallettes as building blocks for various other pallettes. In this instance, we just had the Robes added to our Stock, and had them out on first run. Patched them with preset pallettes, and this worked fine, except that when using the color pallettes, there was also a pos. Circle shape added.. When looking at the pallettes in color workspace, it only showed C content in the pallette, but when using them in programmer, sure enough, there was a shape too..
We repatched and made the pallettes manually, but any ideas as to why this happened? Personality issue? Programming issue?

Sincerely

Did you have any palettes on those buttons before patching the fixtures? Is there any chance that there was a circle shape in the programmer (presumably running on different fixtures) while you were patching? The preset palettes which are defined in the personality only have the option to set fixed values for attributes.

Hi Gregory, thanks for the answer, and suggestions. Am not at the console for a while, but will investigate further. To answer one of your thoughts, yes there's preset colors from our other fixtures on the pallettes, but this shouldn't matter, should it? It's my understanding, that the personalities assign the same destination pallettes for the various groups, ie color, gobo, pos. etc., or have i got something wrong? This seemed to be the case with our other fixtures.
As for having a shape in the programmer, previous to patching, hmmm...?(2 OPs testing a rather large and fast getinn😉)
Just a thought, i know cues refer to the pallettes they're made of, but do pallettes do the same, refer to eachother?

You are correct, when new fixtures are patched their preset palettes are merged with the corresponding palettes from previous fixtures. This does mean that if a circle shape had been manually recorded into those palettes it would still be there after more fixtures are patched. Note that shape palettes are not restricted by fixture type so a shared shape palette will work on any fixture patched in the desk if it has the right attributes. Currently palettes should not reference one another, although this is something we have considered in the past.

Thanks for clearing this up.
Still not at console, but tried repatching in sim, and worked as it should. Must have been a shape in programmer prior to patching. Funny though it didn't show fx in the pallettes. Regarding the pallettes crossreferencing, would imho be a little hard to keep track off, so fine as it is now😉.
