Sapphire 2000

Postby 24seven » 11 Aug 2005, 23:38

I recently used a Sapphire 2000 at a gig and thought it was great and with the shows i know i have coming up soon i have considered finding one 2nd hand to compliment my Pearl 2000

mainly as it is much better for handling the larger gig

my questions are

1 )any known issues with them

2) why are they quite often cheaper than a pearl (just an observation from searches)

3) How much roughly should one cost ??

There are a few known issues in the latest software (2004 build 5), but nothing that will actually affect the programming and playing back of your show: more small issues with small parts of the display occasionally being corrupted when certain actions are performed.

As for price questions, your best bet would be to give sales a call on (020) 8965 8522 - they may be able to give you an idea as to what they'd expect a second hand one to cost.

Mode 2

Postby Lightjockey » 20 Sep 2005, 19:47

Memory mode 2 can give another problem.
If you store somethingwith mode 2 a few fixtures can get another prositions or something like that.
It also happens when you store a few dimmers at a playback with memory mode 2.

I have been playing with a Sapphire 2000 with the latest software in it yesterday.

All I can say is that the desk is dead slow when changing playback pages. It takes about a second a page. So when scrolling fast through pages it can take a while (except if you use the "Select Page" functionality). Frustrating.

And the console seems to lack Preset Master Add/Swop buttons, which are included on the Pearl.

But it is a very good Rock 'n' Roll desk. 100 faders in front of you is really, really helpfull when dealing with a lot of dimmer channels.
