What console to buy.......??

Postby uriahdemon » 13 Sep 2016, 15:08

Hi, I currently use Freestyler with a couple of midi triggers and am looking to upgrade to an Avolites console. Money is an issue therefore I cannot afford the top end consoles new. I was wondering if anyone can give me some advice on what console would be best to buy from new or the best secondhand options there are from your experience. Thanks

I always prefer to buy new, i have had a lot of troubles with second hand.
I would suggest to start with a titan mobile if your budget is low.
If there is enough budget a quartz is your way to go: compact, but with the power to drive upto 16 universes artnet or 4 universes dmx

Thanks very much for the reply. I was actually looking at the Titan mobile with the wing. My understanding is that the access to 4 universes just allows me more fixtures within a 512 range for each..... or have I got that wrong......?? I do not have so many fixtures right now and can fit them all within one universe as I am doing with Freestyler. What is the problem right now is trying to get the Titan one software installed so I can at least get it up and running to see how I get on with it. I keep getting 'No Dongle attached'

You cannot use Titan One without a dongle. However, you can use the Titan Simulator and then select any of the consoles to simulate. This would normally be installed as part of the Titan PC Suite.

You can select the console type to simulate from the Simulator startup splash screen. Titan one has all the controls embedded in the display. For all the other consoles there is a separate 'Virtual Panel' which emulates the various control surfaces including Titan Mobile.

Thanks again. I do realise I am going off subject now but I have the Titan Mobile screen in front of me and trying to patch some fixtures. The manual says press softkey PATCH..... but I cannot find it.

The patch key for the Titan Mobile can be found on the virtual panel in the group of buttons above the keypad and page controls.
