Recalling Presets on an Avolites Quartz from an external control system

Postby jeffmcaleer » 02 Dec 2024, 17:56

I'll start by saying I'm completely ignorant of this hardware and system. I've been given a very rough design by a client, and I'm trying to figure out what I need to know in order to execute it.

They're installing an Avolites Quartz and a bunch of lights. Parallel to that system, I have a Crestron Control System that will be used for controlling all sorts of other stuff in the space, video/audio routing, shades, volume, etc. They would like some super basic controls on the Crestron touchpanel for lighting presets. Think "All On", "All 50%", "All Off" or the like. No individual control of specific lights or anything, just the ability to recall some general presets for the system.

Is there a REST API or Telnet socket or something I can connect to on the Quartz to recall scenes/presets? Having trouble really figuring out even where to start with things, since I'm unfamiliar with the Quartz and Avolites consoles in general. I've submitted multiple requests for help via the official "Contact Us" page on the Avolites website, and followed up via email, and never gotten a response from the company so now I'm asking here instead.

I appreciate any help you can provide a total n00b.

Perhaps have a look at WebAPI which can be used to send HTTP commands to a console. Start with the manual and the examples on that page to give an idea of what is possible. The complete API reference can be found here (or https://api.avolites.com/ for other versions). The landing page again gives some brief examples and you can also browse/search all available commands; note that this includes various internal commands which may note be practical or possible to run via WebAPI. Another source of examples can be found on this third party Wiki or posts in this forum.

Excellent thanks for the direction.

Stupid question: I had been looking for information on controlling the hardware, and not looking at the "Titan Software" because I assumed Titan was software running on an external computer for controlling the Quartz. From scanning this documentation, it looks like I was mistaken and Titan is actually software running on the Quartz itself? And so I do in fact want to control the Titan Software, and that's controlling the Quartz directly with no external PC?

Titan is the name of the software that runs on all current Avolites lighting consoles, Titan PC Suite and specifically Titan Go is just a variation of that same software intended to be run on a users' computer. WebAPI runs on the Quartz itself so you would not need an external computer running Titan Go to be able to use it. Assuming the Crestron Control System can send HTTP commands in the format required by the WebAPI documentation it can just talk directly to the IP address of the Quartz.
