Pearl 2000 vs. 2004

Postby Narve » 27 Feb 2006, 17:31

We are looking into investing in a new light consol for our venue. (combined Club and Live). We have been using Hog500 up until now for our club... but we are moving into doing concert and live shows.

We are looking at hog 1000 and pearl.

What is the diference between pearl 2000 and 2004?

I understands that there is a USB on the 2004. Does that mean that we don't need the old floppys?

No. The USB port is currently unused, but AFAIK cannot ever be implemented as an alternative to floppies.

2004 has four individual outputs for the four universes. 2000 has two each containing two universes (split over the 5 pins).
Otherwise there is very little difference except for a slightly more 'modern' look to the 2004, which also uses better (more expensive!) faders.

I use in-house for two venues, both club & live. I find the Pearl particularly suitable for two reasons - great flexibility for busking and most importantly familiarity with touring LD's.
