Asus 1612

Postby ciuf » 30 May 2013, 07:35

Hi everybody!
I am thinking of buying a new pc dedicated to my titan mobile.
I know this is the worst question I could ever do but...does anybody use the Asus 1612 pc?
I was wondering if it will be ok for working with show that have 2/3 full dmx universes.
The processor is a celeron 847 and it has got 2gb of ram. Of course this pc wil be completely dedicated to this use...no crap in it.
I am worried about the overall performance...
This is the oldest question....I'm sorry :D

Good lights..

Hi Ciuf,

I have used a couple of different laptops with the titan, both of them were dual core and im not going to say they were slow but they could have been faster if you know what I mean....

I now have an ASUS S400CA which has an Intel I5 Processor, 4gb Ram and Intel HD 4000 Graphics.

It is extremely fast and can cope with anything the titan throws at it. The touch screen is very responsive and is perfect size.

Very good value for money if you ask me!

Having the quad core processor for me is a must because i did find on other laptops they get a bit sluggish when updating cue stacks, using the pixel mapper and generally flicking between work spaces.

The new pro consoles are i5 so if you have the option it would make sense to aim for that. However, it does really depend on what you are going to be doing. As Joe says, pixel mapping and large cuelists will be happier on faster processors, but if you're not doing that then it might not be so important.
