MIDI on Pearl

Postby Zydeco » 28 Jan 2005, 10:37

I would like to know how to use MIDI on a Pearl.

Is there any easy way to understand how to use it?

I am not sure about it even though I read a manual.

Please let me know.

It depends on what you are trying to do.

1) Slave one desk off another.

Connect a midi cable to the out of the master desk and the in of the slave desk.
Set the Midi setting on the Master to Midi-Master and the Slave to Midi-Slave.
The playbacks on the master desk will now also control the playbacks on the slave desk.

2) Connect a midi keyboard.

Connect the Midi out of the keyboard to the midi in of the desk.
Set the Midi User Setting to Midi-Slave.
Go to System|Utilities|Configure a Midi Keybaord.
Follow the (VDU) on screen prompts.
The keys on the keyboard will now fire the playbacks.

You do also need to make sure you set the Midi Channel correctly. It is normally set to 0.

Hope this helps!
