Pearl Tiger Issues

Postby tbogdon3 » 07 Mar 2012, 00:11

Hello,
Not sure if this is the correct area or not, but I am having some problems with our console. Earlier this week I noticed all the fixtures are missing from our console. I checked and it seems like the AVOCACHE is blank. I tried following the directions online and syncing the personalities with no success. I have even tried to reformat the onboard drive and running the program from my computer putting the fixtures directly onto the AVOCACHE drive. Still no success. I have tried several different ways and everytime I try to patch a fixture it shows the manufactures, but when you select the manufacture it acts like it is cataloging them and comes up and says 'no fixtures found'. I am lost at this point. I was told to try to reinstall the avo system and programming and still that didn't help. Could someone please help. It is a pearl tiger (no touch) running software 2.1.

As a quick workaround and test, you might place the personalities of the fixtures you need at another thumbdrive (keep the file structure, and keep the SG.DAT in place), connect it to the desk and try patching from there. Big question: does this work? And even more important: except from the issue of not finding personalities, does the desk work stable?

If you have a look inside, you'll notice the main parts at once. There is a special PCB connected to the mainboard, which is only there for providing the USB ports. The internal stick (Avocache) is connected to this board as well as the external connector. I'd guess either the connection between the mainboard and the USB board is somewhat loose, or the Avocache stick is broken or loose.

Of course your Avo dealer should be able to help you, but maybe this is a starting point for fixing it yourself. Depends from how far you go...

Yeah I have done that. The board works great. I have not had any problems with it. I worked witht the console again last night and swapped the usb ports and tried it again. I have notice through looking at it more that some of the fixtures that I have no use for actually work. The ones I need say no fixtures found. I downloaded and ran the personalities onto my desktop to test some things out. For some reason it doesn't seem like its the board. I am going to test running it from an external drive today.

So my bet would be a faulty USb stick.

TRy downloading the personalities, and extract both (execute the programs) to a (possibly new) USB thumbdrive, using a standard PC. This way, you'll have all personalities. Now hook it up to the desk, and select this drive as source when patching.

Next step wiould be to replace the internal stick...
