Pearl2008/Tiger - MIDI control

Postby Quidam » 21 Nov 2012, 15:52

Hello everyone,

I own a Pearl Tiger Classic.
I absolutely love it ; it's a wonderful piece of work and, first of all, this post is a nice opportunity for me to thank all the Avo Team. Greetings from Belgium :)

[And I apologize in advance for my english - I'm obviously not a native speaker...]

Here's my question (just to be sure before re-packing this brand new MIDI controller of mine, but I think I already know the answer :/) :

Being able to assign a MIDI trigger to any item on the console (not only playbacks but also fixtures (swop buttons) or palettes (flash buttons)) is a Titan-only feature, isn't it ?

I searched the forum and went trough section 13.2 of the manual... As far as I understand, the 'only' available commands on the 'older' Classic series are :

- Set playback page
- Set a playback on/off/@xx%
- Chase control

I reckon this is already quite a lot but, unfortunately, this isn't what I was hoping for... :]

Hence, two questions :

1) I'm I right, concluding there's no way to assign a midi trigger to a flash or swop button (from a handle or a playback) ?

2) I suppose manually running playback 1.1 (playback page 1, playback 1) then sending the Midi commands [change on playback page 2], [run playback 2.1] will kill playback 1.1... Is that correct ?

Thanks for your time and answer(s).

Hi,

unfortunately you're right on (almost) all accounts. The only deviation is not a solution for you, and just a minor thing: in your last item it's more like: after having toggled to page 2, bringing up fader 1 won't have any effect unless you bring it down before.

Sorry mate.

Well... This is actually worse than I expected, indeed !

I guess I'll have to figure out another marvellous use for that controller.
(Is there any midi-triggered coffee machine out there ?)

Thanks for your reply ; very much appreciated.
