Pearl Expert software problems... MY big OOPS. HELP!

Postby bkstagekwk » 04 Feb 2011, 23:43

a while back, Pearl Expert had been flickering and taking a few extra times to boot, so I was glad to see an update. Computer part boots just fine but the little screen was blank. Not totally blank... had all the dividing lines, just no data. Tried to install update today.

My big OOPS was that it was simply a Power Supply issue. Got a new PSU now.

A couple of aspects of Titan that I just don't jive well with, so bare with me.
Followed directions and double clicked on the .exe file to install the 2.1 classic software... A kinda 2-part install... the Expert part and the USB service part.

All went well with the first, but when it tried to "repair" the USBservice section, it quit... telling me that the USB service was already installed. reboot blahblahblah.

So I uninstalled Expert and USBservice...
Double clicked my .exe again, and same exact scenario except that now it just crashes on the USBservice setup.
Tells me that there's a problem with the uninstall dll. BAM.
Add/Remove Programs doesn't even work on that particular service anymore.
So now, my boot just goes on forever, not finishing... counting up forever.

What to do? Please help.
I am more than willing and able to reinstall Windows if you think that might be my ticket.
Thanks in advance.

Rather than faff around trying to fix this it will almost certainly be easier and quicker to use the recovery CD. If your console has been upgraded for Titan then I'd install v4 so that you get the latest Classic.

Separately, if you don't mind I'm sure it would be useful to understand what you are not comfortable with in Titan.

I do not understand what instructions you where following which told you to install the components as separate items. The upgrade should be a single installer which updates everything.

You should never need to uninstall anything as the upgrade installer should sort all that out.

As you are now in this situation I would recommend downloading the V4.0 recovery disk and starting from scratch.

When you had your problem with the screen it would have been a good idea to ring our service department. They would have been able to tell you very quickly that the problem was not software related.
