Pearl Expert Titan: LTP chases

Postby SL » 21 Jul 2010, 16:59

Hi,

I use a lot of CLS Pixelbars in the shows i do, and also strobe these lights. What i do: I make a chase with step for step the RGB to the values what looks the most to white and then randomise the chase. Unfortunally all other colours go out, and when i`m putting the fader ,with the chase on it, down, the last pixelbar stays in white.

Other info: I use the Generic RGB + virtual dimmer personality, and the colours i use are in mode 2. The only option i have is to make a pallette with all off, but then goes also the normal colours out, wich are in mode 2.

Is there something i can do, that for example blue stays on, but i stil can
use a white strobe, and when i lower the fader, there`s nothing stayed on?

Thanks! :)

Are you saying you want to achieve a 'bump to white' chase that runs over the top of any other colour?

There is no perfect way to do this yet. It has been discussed recently. See the tips and tricks thread. You could write custom shapes that will (when set to maximum size) always give white. For RGB this would be 'additive' on all three channels simultaneously. Assign speed to fader.

Alternatively you could use a cuelist that autoloads cues which are set to mode2. However, this will have no speed control and, crucially, might break if you are using other playbacks that have the same attributes also in mode 2.

I suspect this is the problem with your second issue whereby you are trying to create a momentary white strobe in mode 2 but overlapping this with other playbacks using the same attributes in mode 2. This will cause problems. The solution is either to release colour (I haven't checked how well this will interact with the mode 2 faders) or again use a custom shape. This time it would be a 'hold' type shape as described in 'variable intensity reduction'.

Nic, thanks. Then i have to use something else instead of a strobe in the pixelbars.

But for the last. It`s something you also have when you make a odd/even red/blue chase. When you lower the fader, the last step will stay on. So maybe it`s an idea for the next update to make a sort of mode 2 option for chases?
And the problem using shapes for this is the timing. With a shape i can not control the exact timing, and cannot set the right speed before, because i work allot on festivals and other things where i don`t know i will hear that event...
