VDU on EXPERT

Postby Chrislights » 20 Oct 2009, 23:21

Just wondering if i'm missing something here but i've been using the Pearl Expert for a few shows now and always attach the VDU and am aware of the different views available as well as the HUD display but find I barely even spare a glance at it. Am i making my life more difficult by not utilising it? I find with my desk labelled the HUD is irrelevant and awkwardly positioned and involves time setting legends for each thing. I guess it comes down to personal preference and what one is used to but just wanted to ask you guys what you use it for and any tips on how to get better use of it.

Cheers

Personally I find legending is very fast and is time well spent. But each to their own. You don't have to use it!

I gave my answer to the same question here

In addition to my comments there it is useful for me when babysitting other operators to solve or preempt problems; It is very difficult to label four pages of fixtures/palettes in my experience (even if you print them) and, finally, legending was probably one of the most requested features missing from Classic by users who move the same show between different consoles and wanted the legends to re-label if nothing else.
