Pearl Expert freezes

Postby redshot » 20 Sep 2009, 11:16

Hello, I work on a stage with the Pearl Expert, and sometimes it freezes during the show, and as you can imagine, it's not a beautiful thing to watch.

By freezing I mean that all controls get "stuck", I cannot change anything, but it keeps the previopus DMX output.

So I figured that it only freezes when I select all the 20 Mini-spots 250 (I often use the Takeover mode, still didn't have that much programming time) and change the color. I thought it happened because of a memory overflow, but yesterday, while quick programming and testing, it froze when I changed only the color to red.

So my question is, why is this happening? Is that a fix or some workaround?

Thanks in advance.

Good question. It's the Classic, but I don't know exactly the version, because I don't have it here with me. Maybe next weekend.

If it is an outdated version, an upgrade will correct the freezing problem?

Hard to say, but obviously you should always use latest version since it will contain fixes.

I have never heard of this problem. The only 'freezing' issue I know of has always been related to using flash buttons, usually quickly.

Have you considered using Titan?

When it freezes can you move the mouse around on the VDU screen?

If so then open up USB expert and check that you are getting key presses.

I do not believe that upgrading the software will fix the problem but switching to Titan mode would be a good idea. I would suggest that you run the latest v1.2 recovery disk on our website as well.

Hello, thanks for your answers. Next week I'll take a look and will try to freeze it (before the show, of course), and check if USB expert is getting anything.

About the Titan Upgrade, I'll have to discuss it with the console's owner, and I'll update you as soon as possible.

thanks again.
