T2 midi usb controllers support

Postby NORD » 12 Feb 2020, 10:03

I want to purchase T2. How it works with MIDI controllers, for example, assigning cue to physical keys and assigning system keys, such as record, clear, and other?

T2 will allow you to use USB MIDI devices connected to the same computer. Titan can receive a variety of MIDI commands, including Note On, Note Off and Control Change, these can be mapped to various hardware or virtual items via the Triggers window under the System menu. Hardware triggers link as if to the physical button on the console however in the case of the T2 these will be shown in the on-screen display, this includes buttons such as the Go, Locate and Clear buttons but also flash, swop or playback faders. Item triggers are linked to specific things such as playbacks or fixtures, with these you specify the action the trigger should perform and this will work on the same item regardless of what page you are on or whether you move the item. You can find further information on triggers in the manual.

I use a X-Touch compact and have it setup as following:
- Faders 1 thru 9 for PB faders 1 thru 9
- Buttons 1 thru 9 under faders as flash buttons 1 thur 9
- Buttons above the faders (3 rows of 8 buttons) as Playback button 1 thru 24 (as in the blayback window)
- X-touch record button as Titans Record button, X-touch play button as Go button, X-Touch loop button as Exit button, X-touch Stop button as Clear button, X-touch rewind and forward buttons as PB Page - and +
- Bottom two push encoders on the right side as Fixture - and +

And a lot more, but that is to much to drop here.

All is done by the Sytem menu and then Triggers, on the left hand side of the window, press the + button to add a mapping, give it a name (maybe the one of your controller). Then on the right hand side of the window, press the + button to add a midi trigger.

As for an example:
1: Go to System > Triggers, now the trigger window will open
2: in the left pane press + to add a mapping and name it Midi Controller 1
3: press the + button in the right pane and follow the steps:
4: First move the (on screen) fader of PB 1, you might want to click "match level" on the right hand side of the screen, I had better luck with the zero fader point with that enabled
5: click on OK on the top right of the screen to confirm that you want to add a trigger for that function (in the mini window on the top right of the screen, it will inform you about the hardware/software action you are have selected, so in this case it should mention Playback Fader 1), then move the (first) fader of your controller and you will see a blue bar on the left hand side of the screen
6: then click "add" on the top right of the screen and the trigger is set
7: follow step 4 thru 6 for the next trigger or click "exit" if you are done programming triggers

To add an on-screen button to a midi trigger like a palette, group or playback button, follow step 1 thru 3 from above, then close the trigger window, make sure the window with the preferred buttons is open and the following steps:
1: click the button you want to trigger
2: look at the mini window on the right top if the preferred button is really selected, if yes, click OK
3: press the desired button on the midi controller
4: click "add" in the top right of the screen
5: follow step 1 thru 4 for the next trigger or click "exit" if you are done programming triggers

NOTE: if you have a Midi controller like the X-Touch, that has touch sensitive faders, you might want to disable that in the conroller (by it's dedicated software) or use a pencil or something to move the fader while learning the midi trigger, because the touch of the fader will send a midi note, so Titan may receive that instead of the fader (CC) information.

I also find that I can NOT use any buttons with note on/off information to use as tap tempo/BPM It always jumps to the highest tempo/bpm.

Maybe I am overlooking something?
