Edit Shapes

Postby watty » 09 Feb 2018, 20:40

Can someone help me on this one - I'm not sure if I am missing something or if there is a problem with 10.1 re editing shapes saved in the shapes palette window.

I set up a phased circle for a group of fixtures and saved it as a shared palette in the shapes palette window. All works fine - select fixtures, locate and hit stored button and shape runs on fixtures.

If I try and edit the saved shape, and update it, it no longer runs. If I re-create the shape and try and save it to the palette button, by replace or merge there is a message that says "cant replace" (or very similar)

My concern is that if I use a shape palette in a batch of playbacks and then can't edit it, my only option would be to delete it which would then mean editing all the cues individually.

I also noticed that when I viewed the shape in palette view, there was sometimes more than one version showing with an original and modified version showing. I'm not sure what is happening but after reading the manual and trying as many things as I could think of, I just can't get it to work. :?:

An Update. It would appear that it is not possible to update shapes. The console keeps reporting "unable to update palette"

The only way I can find to make it work is to view the shape within the stored palette shape, I can then delete the contents and save new shape information.
This new information does not follow through to a cue that stored the original shape information.

Is shape editing/updating broken?

Even with the workaround above, the new information does not update any cues it is used in.

Please can someone help with advice on whether I am trying to do something that is Broken or if there are things I might be doing wrong.

All input gratefully received as usual.

There is more than one issue here but in short unfortunately editing shape palettes currently breaks references.
