Ambilight anyone?

Postby Avljud » 18 Sep 2017, 21:22

Hi

I want to create a ambiligth. So I have a screen, a projector, a videomixer, a laptop, a Quartz and some lights underneath the screen. So when I play a video from the computer that is projected on the screen I would also like the lights to show the same colours. I know how to pixelmap, but I don't know how to get a video in this setup into my Quartz console. Is it even possible? Cat-5? Or is it just as simpel as I have to pixelmap the video seperately for the lights and than press play on both consoles?
Can someone please help me and give me some ideas?

Thank you!

Use a media server controlled over Artnet or sACN to control video from titan .

So you mean that if I have a Mac with Arkaos and connect the HDMI outport to a Videomixer (Barco Scaler) and than connect a Cat-5 to the Quartz console and patch it as a Mediaserver I will be able to play the same video on the screen and the lights via Arkaos?

A medias server is another fixture. you just command it over the network you would have to program the lights to do what you want also .

Many of the media servers can also do pixel mapping - for example you can add the LED mapper extension to Arkaos. I haven't looked into it in detail but I assume the DMX is output over Art-Net. Theoretically you should be able to achieve everything from one machine assuming it is powerful enough (ie. Arkaos+LED mapper+content on laptop - play content in Arkaos and output via HDMI as well as mapped to RGB fixtures over Art-Net via an Art-Net to DMX box). You can then control this remotely from the Quartz if required but there is currently no way to pixel map video content within Titan.

Ok I see. Well thank you very much. Than I quess I have to make this as a request for future version if It's possible. I read that someone pixelmapped some fixtures with a live feed using Resolume Arena and Chamsys. So that person captured a part from the screen and sent it pixmapped to the console for somehow.

Pretty sure that was done exactly how Nick just said ... .

Chamsys has it's own media server software.

Ok yes I understand. It would be great if it could come something similar in a future version like a mediaserver software or some sort of solution to pixelmap video within titan :)

If the media server can sample pixels and send this as MIDI, DMX or sACN this could be used to trigger playbacks on the Quartz. At the simplest this could be Mode 2 playbacks which control RGB/CMY individually for each fixture.

So it would be possible to use the Ai software on a laptop connected to the Quartz to play videos on a screen with projector and led fixtures? If I'm correct?
