I saw this only for Autosaves, which didn't load into 8.0. Workaround: load the show into any v7 console (or PC suite), and dedicately save it as a show (not Autosave). This can then be loaded into v8

http://www.avolites.com/software/downlo ... n-pc-suite - all previous versions are listed there.
If you want to, you might send me the show by email (s.beutel@avolites.de), and I'll do this for you (I am with the German Avo distributor)

Thanks for the links
No worries I'll do it myself nothing is time critical at this point ..I'll just uninstall/reinstall on my back up computer and go thru resaving and testing to the main mobile machine using a thumb drive shouldn't take too long. ( I wanna do all my old shows... some have theaters I tour in all patched up already and will make for quick re builds of new shows ... bout 50 shows in all LOL )

I do have to say one other thing...
Why is this not in the release notes? At least for 8.1

I suspect the reason it isn't included is because it has always been true when moving between any version, not just from 7 to 8. But it's a fair point and I will try and ensure it is added, at least in forthcoming versions.
To provide more information on this if the software doesn't understand the show (ie. it was from a different version) it will look for a file in a format that it can convert. This compatibility format is part of the 'normal' saves but takes extra time. Therefore to ensure autosaves are as quick as possible it is not included.

It is in the release notes "Please ensure you save and backup your shows before attempting to upgrade any software." this means you should save a separate copy of your show to a USB drive. An autosave is not an adequate backup.
It is good practice to always save copies of your show to seperate USB media. Whilst very rare it is not impossible for the SSD to fail and you will be left without your show.

I'd never noted the auto save issue between versions before . Nor did I know that "An autosave is not an adequate backup"
I do have windows auto backing up my titan folder to a thumb drive for my mobile(hourly). Tho for some reason windows stopped doing it for a week and when I upgraded to 8 the show that was loaded disappeared from the drive. But I don't blame avo as I should have double checked the proper back up... But quite strange the whole show just disappeared. No quick saves no auto saves not even a show folder... Just gone.

It may be that you were just lucky. It's quite possible that some versions will work ok - it all depends on new features/improvements/changes and how they might affect showfiles. Certainly there's a higher chance of success between maintenance releases (point builds) than across major version boundaries.
But as a rule-of-thumb I think it's best to assume autosaves won't be compatible. I don't think it will do any harm to clarify that autosaves are not suitable as backups in the upgrade notes in the future.
