We have, like SLS, a couple of T1 in Stock, and use these on various pc's. I understand that each dongle has to be paired with each pc, but can each pc be paired to multiple dongles( not simultaniously ofcourse)? Eg. Having multiple T1 atf files associated?

I'll await the official response to this BUT

I have a mobile and a t1 connected to two different machines and am able to switch them around at will after getting them both fully licensed with both pieces of hardware.

I'd assume you could have more then one t1 or more then one TM per machine.....

Yes, you can have multiple licences installed on the same computer for use with multiple TitanOne dongles. The same computer can also have one or more Titan Mobile licences as well. Titan will automatically detect the correct licence based on the hardware that is connected when it is started.

E.T.A: and you too.. Clublights.
And will add that i totally agree with your sentiments regarding the necessity for AVO to address the copyright problems.

A number of points have been raised in this thread, these are:

1 Titan software timeout in version 7.3
2 Personality files and if in the future they might be locked to software
3 Hiring out of TitanOne from rental companies
4 Hiring of Titan Mobile and the flexibility of having a pc based console.

Taking each in turn:

1 Software timeout.
No Genuine console running Titan 7.3 will time out. The licensing options for genuine users have been described elsewhere, but for reference, a full permanent license can be requested through our web site, on submission of console photos and uploading of the token file produced by the console during the upgrade. This license will, barring unforeseen circumstances be sent by email within 4 days of application (providing appropriate photos have been uploaded and the console is genuine). During this period however a 14 day temporary license will be provided immediately at the time of the license request. As well as the full license request a quick license can be obtained instantly by logging onto the website and entering an unlock code produced by the console. This can be done using a smart phone or by calling by telephone anyone who has an internet connection.

2 Personality Files.
No decision has been taken on locking these to a specific version of software, but this is one method that would devalue the ownership of copy consoles. (To any copy owner reading this get a genuine console and don't take this risk). We have an excellent in house service for producing fixture files and if we have all the information can produce new fixture files very quickly. It is worth pointing out that we are sometimes asked to produce a fixture file for a fixture that is manufactured by a company who also markets illegal copy consoles which infringe our copyright and IP. In some cases we even produce the fixture file on the basis that the owner of a fixture is not responsible for the unscrupulous manufacturer. I would be interested to hear what our customers think about this. Anyway a benefit of console licensing is to separate these. As an aside a manufacturer has just launched a console which is marketed as being compatible with our personality system, implying they don't need to make personalities ... just ask Avolites and they will do it for free. Locking personalities would help stop this. Lastly locking personalities potentially separates Avolites' tested personalities from user designed personalities. All that said there are no current plans to lock personality files.

3 Hiring TitanOne.
TitanOne was designed and priced as a teaching aid which could be used on shows as a bonus. I am surprised that it is being hired given it is a very low cost product. I would not recommend installing it on an unknown computer for running a show, professional or amateur. That said the Quick License is valid for 14 days and a Full License can be easily applied for and would persist with that computer, which would allow easy future use without re licensing.

4 Hiring of Titan Mobile and PC suite software.
Most of what I have said in 3 above applies; hire it with a dedicated PC! Most general purpose pc's I come across, especially if they are a couple of years old, including my own, have all sorts of software installed on them, giving a high likelihood of a non optimal pc for a time critical application such as a lighting console. I wouldn't want to take the risk of an unknown computer spoiling my carefully crafted show.

In summary:
7.3 doesn't time out on a Genuine Console. Obviously trying to run any of our software on a copy console is against license agreement and therefore illegal, we don't know if it will cause permanent damage to non-genuine hardware but it might.

If you hire TitanOne or Titan Mobile, hire it with a dedicated known and suitable computer (and a second one if you want a backup and use our backup features which are even better in 7.3).

Personality files are not currently locked to software versions and available to all Avolites' genuine users.

Thank you Richard for getting us all these answers

In response to your question about making personalities for fixtures made by desk clone manufactures:

As you said it is not the fault of the End User that manufacture is stealing IP and even father then the owners of fixtures is the touring LD that gets stuck with them thru no choice of His/Her own.

so making them feels like the right thing to do currently to take care of us Users out here on the pointy end of the stick so to speak..

I'd like to have a known list of the crooks making the clones so I can avoid their gear from coming into my shop and can tell everyone I know to avoid them.
