conventional light in visualiser?

Postby lightning » 05 May 2013, 10:14

For learning TitanOne + Visualiser - can anyone suggest a personality that will act as a "conventional" light (dimmer level only) in Visualiser? I want to be able to practice using some moving heads with conventional lights at the same time.

Thx

The fixture you're looking for is called 'Generic' in visualiser. It's automatically inserted into your vis theatre as soon as you patch a dimmer in Titan, provided you have Auto Update enabled in visualiser.

thanks - got it! is there a way to turn auto-update on in the stand-alone Visualiser? (only see the auto-update option in the Visualiser workspace)

Well, AutoUpdate makes sense only in conjunction with Titan, thus this option is only available in the Workspace window. However, from what I found, there is a way to make use of it even if running Visualiser externally:
- in visualiser, save the theatre
- close visualiser
- start Titan (if not already running)
- open the visualiser workspace window
- load the theatre you've previously saved
- turn on Auto Update
- now, all fixtures you patch will appear in Visualiser
- and: from what I've found, even fixtures which had previously been patched without the visualiser window being open can be brought in: simply patch another fixture of the very type (manufacturer, model and mode). This will bring in all 'missing' fixtures in visualiser - you can then delete the additional one.
- finally, in the visualiser workspace window, save the theatre. Close the window. Now you can start visualiser externally again, load the theatre, and have fun...
